Photographer’s Note

Camerino is a small medieval city in the region of Le Marche. Beautifully situated on the top of a tall hill, the city has been the center of education in the region of Le Marche since 1336. The views from the city's Palazzo Ducale rival that of some of Italy's more famous hill towns, and the city's proximity to the Appenines make the views even more impressive. This shot was taken from a balcony in the Palazzo Ducale and shows the Chiesa di San Venanzio.

Great idea to let the church on the bottom an give us that beautifull and so typical landscape.

Geoffrey, I image you enjoyed very much here in Italy. Central Italy is the place where they live better: culture, nature, food etc. Good composition with the bright church in foreground and the sweet hills in background. Probably I'd have avoided the vertical shot because it compresses a bit the landscape that needs more breath

That's just beautiful, Geoff. So typically central Italy. Beautiful sunlight bathing the green and orderly fields on the rolling landscape. And having it in portrait gives it a great verticality rising from the church in the foreground to the hills in the distance. As Gae says there is a bit of a compression of space feel but I like that a lot here. The church still clearly stands out in the foreground. And the whole scene is like a medieval fresco which used placement to create depth. And certainly the subject matter and colors could be worth making a fresco of. There is also the road that appears a little in the middle that sort of is made out in other places making a nice zig zag into the back. Very well seen and photographed, Geoff. It has an almost Under the Tuscan Sun sort of look, except here it's Under the Sun of Le Marche.
