Photographer’s Note
This gentleman is selling what I think are betel leaves, which people buy to chew on, rather like a wad of tobacco I suppose. He invited me to take his picture when I walked by.

I also like this one Ken, mostly because of the background, imo fantastic. The leaf seller is posing and looks a bit stiff. Colours are great as is the street atmoshpere.

Very nice street scene although the vendor does not look very friendly. The colours are vey natural and the scene of the street behind is a world in itself: it is pleasant to see that not everybody adopts occidental way of life: there is so many cultural differences here.

I really like the way you got the street vendor linked with the street on this shot. The background view of the busy street really makes the picture special. Well done.

Superb gamut of muted colors (reminscent of kodachrome a bit...) Two colors really POP here: the orange of the fello's scarf and the green of the betel. Beautifully composed with the foreground crystal clear giving way to a foggier, more polluted street scene in the background. Nat Geo all the way! Francis

Just perfect composition, Ken. I love how the background kind of fades into smokiness and urbanity. Lighting and exposure are really marvelous on this man's face.

Hi Ken
very good early morning shot (I suppose)
I don't know the name of the thing that the guy is selling in english ... but in hindi you call it "Paan" .... and it can have tobacco in it ... usually they ask if you want it with or without the tobacco
nice muted colors you have in the picture
cheers

Beautiful shot, great capture of the man and his work. Very nice composition to show the surrounding and good timing to include the boy in the top left. Nice light and great expressions captured.

Very nice Ken. The composition and subject matter are interesting. The only things that I think could be better are the contrast (though this may be due to a bad scan) and I'm not a fan of the almost square, but not quite, framing. I'd prefer to see this as a 3:2.
Cheers,

This has a very NatGeo feel to me, enhanced by that special quality that film has. I know he's posing for you and I usually don't like portraits with people posing self-consciously but everything else in this shot is just really nice. man! Look at that pollution.

This is a wonderful photo. The tones and feel of the scene is very well captured. In particular, the smog/haze made the scene so wonderful. Great compostion to open up the left to capture the buzzling street scenes.

Ken - this is an amazing picture. I love the way you have come to the man's eys level to take the shot. And it has paid rich dividened... the noisy street, the smog, the prespective of street, cutting of clutter you got everything with this one stroke of genius. Great work.

I really like this image. Everything is perfect here.
The background represented busy activity street of India.
Natural color reversal film that yields high quality result. (just like maciek said)
Cheers!
