Photographer’s Note
I took this photo while trekking in the Himalayas.
It was on this really remote trek somewhere in Kinnaur district. I can't remember the name of this valley now as it was quite a long time back.
Anyways your critique would be welcome
cheers
IT IS NOT A ROAD. Its a a stream.
I just wanted to clarify that the thing in the middle of the photo is a stream and not a road. I got many comments where people misunderstood. The nearest road was maybe 2-3 days of walking distance from here.
Cheers

Hi Sarju,
great shot and contrasts, love the contrast of the white mountain against the blue sky added with the colours of the earth and grass. it all goes well together. The path leading into it all adds a great touch. great work.

Wow. Nice photo. I like how you cannot tell how big those mountains are from the photo. It looks like something you would have to see with your own eyes. Well done

Okay Critiquing time. First off what makes this photo really attractive is the slow curve on the slope on the left. Having the creek curl like that really fits in well too. The mountains on the right with snow on them are beautiful but they only occupy a smaller part of the frame. I am wanting to see into the long valley between both sides but I cannot. Its not right or wrong its just that aspect of having some lead in liines into the distance that I usually try to fit into alot of shots. So...if I were at this grand place and had a few hours..I would hike over to the right of the frame and capture more viewing access between the two mountains. And if that were not possible then perhaps a little wider angle to see a little more in this great area. But on the other hand this shot is very pleasing to view. Nice work.

Superbe vallée, avec une belle ligne directrice de gauche à droite. Bonne composition, peut-être un peu surexposé à mon goût. Bon travail!

Sarju...
I thought I had just posted a critique... but I don't see it.
Oops.
What I wrote -- in general -- was that I was envious of your travels and liked the shot very much.
:o)
I like how this is composed and how the eye travels. The only suggestion I would have would be to do a little tweaking in the post processing. Scanning usually requires a little bit of unsharp mask in most cases. I've posted a WS for you to consider.
In any event, I like the shot very much.

Bonjour Sarju,
très belle image, bien cadrée et aux couleurs bien prononcées. J'aime beaucoup l'effet du petit chemin en S au premier plan. Très bon cadrage et bonne netteté. Ce coin a l'air très intéressant... Bravo !

Beautiful sight,excellent details.
Compose as an invitation to cross that river and see what is on the other side of the bend.Good contrast between all those vivid colors.

Hi Sarju. You have done an excellent job in capturing this rugged and beautiful place. I do like the way the road gets swallowed up by the terrain. I also like the u-shape mountainsides. Very impressive work Sarju!

This is beautiful, Sarju, the composition really leads the eye right down the valley. The road, er, stream helps too.
Unlike PJE, I don't think this needs a wider angle.

Excellent composition, Sarju. I really like the stream that reminds me of winding roads in the Andes. This picture is in many ways similar to the sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru.

Hie Sarju, the great thing about being outdoor is,simply able to go out and enjoying it. And learning a thing or two along the way.I came from a rainforested country where, a rolling green valley with snowcapped peaks like this,is a new found heaven. You have good composition here Sarju. Getting the stream to meander into the center, leads and manage the viewer into the scene, instead of looking "all over".

Bani

I enjoy seeing your trekking photographs, Sarju, because I doubt that I could ever visit all the places you have been to in the Himalayas. This is an excellent landscape photograph - good framing, DOF and exposure. Pity it wasn't sharper, but I realise this is quite an old scan. Cheers . . . David

Hi Sarju,
I remember this wonderful landscape from your gallery and since this was on the frontpage of TE, I had to make the critic. At the begining I was wishing to get on the front page as well, but than I realize that there are so few critics after being there...anyway, I want to contribute and since I'm going to stop posting for a while I will have more time to visit galleries I love and yours is one of them.
This landscape is impressive and makes me want to go there. It reminds me a bit of the Kaçkar mountains in Turkey, that I visit this summer, but I supposed this is much higher and impressive in size.
I like the POV and the cloudy sky in the back mixing up with the snowy mountain and I would never think that the stream is a road. Although I agree with you in the Arusem's ws, I have to say that after these 4 months in TE, I can apreciate this kind of saturated images. May be something between both would be nicer.
What altitude are you in here?
Thanks for sharing these wonderful landscapes,
Cheers,
Ricardo
