Photographer’s Note
A view of an ancient fort taken from what I think the Ålanders call "Devil's Mountain". The blurred out stones in the foreground are conserved stones that was originally used to build another fort standing on the "Devil's Mountain" itself.
Many of the forts here were perhaps raised by the Russians. Forts probably remind people in this region of a long history of tragic warfares that dates as far back as Russian's violent invasion in 1714 (again in 1742, and again in 1808) ...
Today, Åland islands lies unique in its nostaglic surroundings and living. It is a piece of treasure not many has to previlege to enjoy.
