Photographer’s Note

I had a request for a close up view of the wall in yesterdays upload of the Yellow Cranes pagoda, so here it is. I liked the way the green plants on the right (bamboo shoots) have thrown a shadow across the cranes that resembles a Chinese watercolour. It looks like there used to be a group of 3 cranes at the top. If you look closely, you can still see the outline on the right of a third cranes neck. The original Yellow Crane Tower was first built in 223 A.D, but was destroyed and rebuilt many times in successive dynasties. The current reconstruction was completed in 1985.
