Photographer’s Note
TE032
This is the Ponte Vecchio in Florence. Italy is known as a country with so much good weather, but not this day in October 1992. Several rivers in Italy had overflowed its banks that autumn.
The original picture is a slide.
The Ponte Vecchio is dated of 1345 and 1564.
The architect is Taddeo Gaddi.
The most important construction elements are bearing masonry, stone arches.
Inhabited urban bridge across the Arno. three great segmented arches on massive piers, with arches above. The corridor above the shops is by Vasari.
The picture is taken from the neighbourhood of the corridor to the Uffizi.
Florence is one of the most exciting places to visit.

Oh - an original frame - I like the motif which I spotted lately on several shots here on TE - truly a dramatic sky you got here as well - thanks Rob - for this "old" shot.

Very good colours and POV. Lots of grain, especially on dark clouds which is good as it ads to the atmosphere.
Again, great note!

Nice modern museum photograph composition. I think that you saanned the slide with borders also. So no necessary "WS". Nice, funny, good quality for a work and artwork of transforming the not so old in new.
Great work and also a terrible and nice creative insight and imagination. See also my last post for your youn years!
Well done!

The dark sky and the muddy water have made the bright colored houses under the Sun light beautiful. The noisy sky made a contrast to the houses clear and detailed.
Nice shot and nice frame.

I too have seen this on TE as of late from different members. The pov is indeed differnet and unqiue from the others. You certainly captured an ominous looking sky. It might not hurt to try to remove a little of noise from the sky. great shot though!

Hi Rob, Great picture with this combination of bright light on the bridge and the dark clouds. I also like the way you show the edges of the negatif.

Hi Rob,
Nice view of this famous bridge with a good contrast between the light on it and the dark menacing sky. Interesting cinema framing, I've seen it some days ago on a photo called "Dolce Vita" if I remember well. The photo is a bit noisy, a result of the scan that can disappear using a tool like Neat Image.
Have a nice day,
JEan-Yves

That "bad" (not at all!) wheather caused to you opportunity to this very good image here, Rob. I love that sunshine contrast to sky deep blue tone. Honestly saying I feel, that those frames are too poor, too everyday for your fine image. Interesting details there overall.

Prachtige foto.

This reminds me of my last time in Italy. It was a summer that rained at least once a week. And a lot of rain in those storms. Very rare. This view of the river is different because of the conditions. I like how the clouds echo the Ponte Vecchio in their march across the river, roofs and sky. About the noisein the sky. You could select only the sky and run a filter on the sky so the river and rest of the image stays as it is. The perspective really draws the eye in, especially the wall on the near shore on the right. Nicely done.

I like this picture with the sun at just the right angle to to emphasize the bridge and its fenestration. Although the point of view is far the fenestration details are still there.

Hi Rob !
I like your frame which is very original because the little white squares match perfectly with the windows along the brige. There is a king of relation between those two elements.
Well done

Hi Rob - a random find today, and what a wonderful contrast, just the type of light I like: sunbreak under stormy skies, I find the frame a bit busy though.

Bonjour Rob,
un des plus beaux ponts du monde, un des plus photographiés aussi. Le ciel dramatique audessus renforce sa luminosité.
Je vois que tu faisais déjà de bien belles photos en 1992.
Amicalement.
Daniel
