Photographer’s Note
I met this boy at the Land Mine Museum, in Siam Reap, Cambodia. He was about to pulled out the string in his hand to demonstrate how a mine trap worked. His face looked so calm, although he had lost his right hand because of mine blast, and he couldn't rely much to his government to help him for his future. He had to help himself, by his own hand. The museum was ran by Aki Ra, a former soldier of Khmer Rouge who then worked as deminer. There were several children like this boy in the museum. I added contrast and sharpen the picture. Great human condition photo Tomi.
Love the determined look on the boy's face.
This photo should be sent to every military commander and landmine manufacturer in the world, they are such nasty people to do this to such innocent children.
I was afraid of what I might see at the landmine museum, so didn't go. The torture museum in Phnom Phen was so moving that I had had enough.
