Photographer’s Note

Hartland Quay

For my next photo, I leave Wales to show you this view from the first week of my holidays, which I spent in Cornwall and Devon. You can see here the rocks and cliffs at Hartland Quay on the northwestern tip of the county of Devon, just to the south of Hartland Point, which marks the western limit of the Bristol Channel, which means the water you can see here is part of the Atlantic Ocean. Just as in my previous post, the silhouette of an island is seen on the horizon, this time, it's Lundy Island (12m/19km off the coast).

The picture is a stitch of two photos.

Excellent shot Lars with great clarity. The tiny people were a surprise, as without them the cliffs look smaller than they are. You have captured the strata in the cliffs perfectly. I checked out the map and the strata even show up on there.

Dag Lars,

Cornwall streek, en een zeer mooie plaats, daar kan men verschillende mooie foto nemen.
Deze foto is prachtig door de opbouw met de witte golven, dit geeft een diepte en goot perspectief.
Leuk om naar te kijken, echte kleuren, maar weinig volk op het strand, of is het hier privé. Bedankt.

Olá Lars, nice panoramic view that reminds me of some portuguese beaches with a rough sea. The rocks make interesting designs all around and people seem like ants wich tell me this is much bigger than I would think in a first impression.

Hey, look at all those little people on the beach, they really are dwarfed by everything else on it. A fine representation of the scale of the scene. Also a peaceful, thougthfully composed motive. A great photo from the technical perspective too of course.

Hello Lars,

It is interesting to see the surf rolling in with never failing regularity!
Maybe the most impressive with the scene is the tiny people, giving scaling to the landscape in an effective way..
Good point of view for a balanced composition!

This view is so relaxing! I love to see the shape of these cliffs covered here and there by the scarce vegetation. Pleasant luminosity which have emphasized the beauty of the natural colors. The tiny people in red have given a sense of scale...

Très belle composition présentant ces falaises s'avançant sur la mer, imperturbables au flux et au reflux des marées.
