Photographer’s Note
the tree chimneys of the Navajo Generating Station, a coal-fired powerplant, are 236 meters high and among the tallest structures in Arizona (third tallest, to be exact). nothing sophisticated, I just liked how the smoking silhouettes looked against the fiery evening sky.

Kristine, this is what I guess we could call a beautiful shame. I assume the stacks are putting out pollutants and not just steam. Great color and detail in the sky and the silhouettes of the stacks and smoke are really fine.

Hello Kristine,
Nice photo thanks to the silhouettes of the chimneys and the deep color of the sky, but I am not sure it could be lovely in full day light.
Interesting composition with the placement of the chimney. Good choice I think because of the small tilt of the smoke going in the inner of the frame.

Hi Kristine,
attractive hues in this sunset sky. The chimneys stand out nicely against this even though they are a bit too dark.
Cheers,

From the thumbnail, they looks like palm trees. Simple composition, the color of the sunset is the show here. Love the contrast between the dark clouds and fiery red and orage. Such a strange combination to see such beauty of nature and the smoke stacks.

Hi Kristine,
it's a strong photo. The sky in its intense orange tones and dark clouds combines well with the chimneys silhouettes. I know there is no relation between them but they both produce an enigmatic and appreensive atmosphere. Well done!

Hi Kristine,
Seems to me we saw these - is these to the east and north of Page, Arizona? I like the triplet view here and the light and colors are quite stunning. Well done an TFS. Gerald

Good morning, Kristine! Before I start to work, a quick hello from my office chair. Didn't I see this picture before the other day :))) or am I wrong and I start to see things ... LOL. Yes this is a different Arizona side, something we do not expect to see when we think of the wild west and rather have some cowboys in front of a fire. It is a cool picture really, love the three chimneys with the smoke coming up, the sky is pure drama. Excellent composition, different and yet it has a strange, maybe sad beauty. Have a great morning, once you are up ... Barbara.

Hi Kristine
From where I was for sunset, these chimneys spoilt the scenery and during the day they're horrible but here you've managed to create an artistic image the smoke rising is actually beautiful. The desert sky is stunning as usual.

Hi Kristine
I can't say I love coal-fired powerplants but your picture is striking, with the sky in fire and the smoke well visible in the dark. Excellent management of light and beautiful colors.
bravo!

Only you Kristine could create a thing of beauty from something so horribly polluting. Those three silhouetted smoking chimneys are perfectly placed in the frame with the smoke leaning in. The sunset colours are truly amazing.

Hi Kristine,
Stunning shot and great color. I like your composition very much. I was near this location in 2007 and have some shots of the power station taken from a distance. The power plant does provides an interesting juxtaposition with the surrounding environment.

Hello Kristine,
The triple chimneys is an eminent eye-catcher!
Colours and shapes are dramatic, with a bit of dooms day feeling...
The light is well handeled and the composition is simple and well balanced!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Kristine
A compo with three chimneys spewing smoke, creating a visual delight? Seems paradoxical, yet your picture is the proof. Silhouettes against the evening sky is fine, sharpness & crispness is top class. Environmentally horrifying (but who am I to say that anyway), but a wonderful picture
Best Regards

Bonjour Kristine,
des Indiens qui se sont bien modernisés apparement. Des couleurs de feu magnifiques, intenses. Le cadrage est parfait, il rejette à droite ces silhouettes parfaites de cheminées et de fumées qui s'orientent bien par rapport au paysage.
Bien vu.
Regards.
Daniel.
