Soho in winter Photo

Photographer’s Note

London is an amazing place. If it is not freezing or raining, you will find tables and chairs outside and people will enjoy the outdoors as if in a Mediterranean country. This is Irving Street off Leicester Square at 5 p.m. on a November Saturday. And Soho was waking up to a Saturday night full of men in shirtsleeves and women in miniskirts. And can you blame them? It's a magical place to be.

I steadied the camera against a lamppost (no tripod with me) and took the shot with the timer. Just now I have rotated slightly and cropped before resizing and clarifying and sharpening a bit.

Hi Per. Taken last weekend in London? What a coincidence - I will travel there in the last week of November :-) This is a beautiful night shot into the Soho pedestrian zone, with a good exposure to deal with the blend of artificial light sources and whatever remained of daylight. The steadying of the camera worked reasonably well, and there is a lot of interesting detail to be explored. Good shot.

and i am envious of your trembless hands(shoot wityout tripod at night!)

Hi Per! Everynow and then, I like to look at city streets, and this one's really a good shot! Very lovely place indeed, made for relaxation. I think it's tilted just a little bit to the right, don't you think? Creative shot even without a tripod, and informative notes too! Thanks for sharing!
