Photographer’s Note
Compared to most of the other streets in Stockholm's Gamla Stan, Prästgatan street is almost totally free from shops and other tourist attractions. That gives the street a sense of old times. Prästgatan has the same line where the first town wall was situated. When the role of the wall was over, parts of the wall were built with houses.
The street was given its name in reference to the residences of three chaplains and a bell-ringer built there during the 16th century, the four small buildings were demolished in 1708 to give room to the parsonage still present. As the parsons of Tyska Kyrkan ("The German Church") were housed near the street, the southern part of it was called Tyska Prästgatan ("The German Priest's Street") from the mid-18th to the mid-19th century while the northern part was called Svenska Prästgatan ("The Swedish Priest's Street"). The name revision of 1885, resulted in the name Prästgatan being used for the street's northern and southern extensions as well.
(From different sources)
There are other uploads from Prästgatan in TE, but perhaps not from this POV and at this time of day. :-)

Hello Lasse,
I like Gamla Stan and always take photos there... I don't remember this street (in many cases, to me, these non-crowded with tourists streets in Gamla Stan look more or less alike! LOL) But I always find them well worth taking photos of :)
Very often it is a problem to take a photo in such narrow old streets because of the lighting conditions (especially when it is a very sunny day).
But in this case you have managed the lighting very well! We see both the FG and the distant houses in the BG. Excellent perspective view. I especially like the natural colours and wall lamps on the right.
Perhaps I should take a much closer look at Gamla Stan when I am there next time :)
Wishing you a very nice day,
best regards,
Elena

Hello Lasse ,
I like a lot this perspective . This little street is so pretty , and the presence of the big lantern is a real bonus for the composition . Excellent management of light .

Hej Lasse,
I am glad you found Prästgatan, one of my favourite streets of the old town, which is generally far too touristic and commercialized for my taste. The emptiness is significant, because as you say few visitors ever find this street. You have captured the architecture, the slight irregularity of the street and the soft light barely reaching the ground very well.
Hälsningar,
Gert

Hallo Lasse!
A wonderful "portrait" of this narrow street! I like especially thislight and these pastel colours here - and this wonderful depth. A very special architecture photo and a beautiful sight indeed! The map view is interesting here!
Greetings from still cool and grey Westphalia!

Hi Lasse,
I've been to Stockholm a couple of times and I like Gamla Stan a lot. I've seen it in Winter when tere are less tourists, but I have never seen itas empty as this street shot, so I must have missed the street. Nice shot with great light management. Thanks for sharing.

Hej Lasse,
Contrary to Gert I have quite a poor and limited knowledge of Stockholm streets. I appreciate the map reference. This strett is remarkably uniform in style and colour, almost exotic! And not anyone here to ruin this effect!

Fascinating details of cobblestones and lamps lining this old street. I'm drawn toward the light beyond and at the same time caught in the cool shade of the buildings. Nobody walking along this lane. It seems an island caught in another time. Providing the history of this place adds so much interest to the photograph. Thank you, Lasse! Judy

Complimenti,
Donato

Hi Lasse, very nice narrow street, looks more like a street in italy than in Sweden. I have a photo of similar stret from Gamla Stan, I wonder if this is the same. Anyway, the POV is different. Good light, it is difficult to make photos in such a narrow street, I have always the problem with burnt sky.

Hello Lasse,
The narrow street care for an excellent depth and great perspective.
You create splendid light to the sky in background.
The three lanterns are the real eye catchers on these picture.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,
John.

Bonjour, Lasse,

Hi Lasse!
Another beautiful architecture photo in your gallery, a picturesque alley! Great composition and framing, great light managment under dificult conditions! I particularly like the fact that there are almost no signs of perspective distortion, something very important in architecture photography! Congratulations!

Ciao Lasse!
Molto bella questa fuga di case gialle! Bello anche il punto di vista che da l'impressione di stare dentro la strada. Ottima la definizione!

Hi, Lasse.
What I find find pretty amazing in this one is the atmosphere you managed to capture... the street is so narrow and wonderfully empty that it almost feels like frozen in time. Technically superb, with special praise for the absolute absence of perspective distortion. Ottimo lavoro, sei stato veramente bravo! Buona serata, a presto.
Fulvio.

Hi Lasse,
It's curious how it has some similarities with my last post of Tarragona. I like very much this kind of PoV, but it's rare that I succeed getting them right, be it for the perspective, or for the light control, often very challenging, or for the disturbing presence of persons, which can give a nice touch, but often unbalance the compo and may be very distracting.
You did an excellent job here and you didn't fall in any of those traps. The sense of "old times" is really strong.
Regards,
José

Hi Lasse
Great POV and details captured. I have seen similar photos but yours does stand above. The sky is perfectly exposed which is hard to do in this case.
Well Done,
Tosca
