Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken at the end of a two day Easter camp on Cheung Chau Island.
From a street cafe, I was able to sit and watch the setting sun (and a enjoy some nice seafood), before catching the ferry back to Hong Kong Island.
Checkout the map reference to see a Google view of the 'dumbbell-shaped' island.
-------------------------------------
Cheung Chau (literally "Long Island") is a small island 10 km southwest of Hong Kong Island.
It has been inhabited for longer than most other places in the territory of Hong Kong, with a population of about 30,000 up to 2006.
The island is dumbbell-shaped, with hills at the northern and southern ends and the settlements concentrated in between.
The central part of the island is well developed with shops and houses.
The laneways are so narrow that normal motor traffic is impossible. Instead, there are small motorized trucks officially term "Village vehicles". For example, there are small specially designed mini-fire engines, ambulances and police cars.
Residential areas also exist on the hills of the north and south.
Traditionally the island was a fishing village and there are still fishing fleets working from the harbour. However in recent years the island has become a major tourist attraction, offering a mixture of sandy swimming beaches, seafood cafes, and traditional Chinese culture.

Again you show us your love for the sea, Andrew. Are you a sailor stuck on shore? (I live 10 kms inland and that's too far for me.) And as someone loving and longing for the sea, you show it well. Magically all lines - the boats, the clouds and the mountains - direct my eyes toward the setting sun; not to the sun itself, rather to the reflection, which is easier on the eye. And nothing interferes with that reflection. Very well done!
The word "dumbbell-shaped" confuses me. It's not included in my dictionary and my thoughts that it could be "crescent-shaped" do not correspond with your map reference.

Hello Andrew,
at last - one more photo in your gallery :)
I saw Hong Kong many years ago, but now through your photos I can see it again - especially those places which I have not seen. And I admire the beauty of this city. The sea in Hong Kong looks incredible, and you manage to convey the "sea-sunset" mood in your photo very well.
I like the dynamism of the scene which is created by the clouds in the sky and the rippled water. Beautiful sight!
Best wishes,
Elena

Nice sunset mood on this one, Andrew. The atmosphere with the silhouettes in the low light and the light cover of clouds is well rendered. Fine notes too, as usual. Hope all is well.

Looks like a good place for a coffee (or beer) must try it next time. Nicely handled tones, retaining detail in the shadows.
I've been watching some pretty nice sunsets up here in the Baltics this week, but after so much time in the tropics, I'd forgotten that it's hours from the first hint of orange to the actual set.
