Photographer’s Note

The Winter Palate with a cold atmosphere accentuated by the icy reflections on the paving stones of the place.
A palate of tsars (1754, B Rastrelli)
A frontage (baroque style) richly decorated and with a nice green color. This palate is also the Ermitage museum.

très belle lumière sur cette architecture impressionnante. Tu as bien composé cette image avec un bel équilibre. Le sol ressort bien avec ce léger reflet de lumière. Bravo.

Bonjour Jean ,
Le cadrage est excellent . Mais c'est la lumière due à l'heure choisie qui donne toute sa force à cette présentation de ce superbe édifice . Et le si beau contraste ave l'avant plan .

Bonsoir Jean,

La lumière éclaire bien le palais d'hiver qui réflechi cette lumière sur la glace ce qui est un atout à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir avec précision les détails et els couleurs de l'architecture du palais. Le sujet est bien cadré. Bonne soirée.

Une telle lumière fait ressortir superbement les ors de ce bâtiment somptueux. très jolie composition avec le petit plus apporté par le reflet sur les pavés verglacés.

Bonjour Jean,

Finalement un palais qui porte bien son nom. Très belle lumière matinale sur cette impressionnante et colorée architecture. Il faut, me semble-t-il avoir le pas bien assuré pour arriver aux portes du palais !!! Je suis impressionné par le nombre d'objets qui y sont abrités. Merci Jean.

Bonjour Jean.
La lumière de février est superbe pour mettre cette façade baroque en valeur. Les reflets sur la chaussée glacée ajoutent de la couleur sur le premier plan.

So that's the famous Ermitage, what a splendor!
The fine evening light makes the colours vibrate and enhance the beauty of this gorgious architecture. As in most of your photos you choose the proper hour to get the ideal light.
A photo which would deserve the cover of NGM.

Hello Jean,

Une façade extraordinaire qui éclate dans cette très belle lumière. J'aime beaucoup le reflet sur le sol. Je me demande si un format vertical plus serré en insérant le reflet n'aurait pas été plus percutant.

Le célèbre musée de l'Ermitage que j'ai visité trois fois en deux semaines tant il est riche de merveilles. Merci de me remémorer ce lieu que j'ai visité en été. Joli cadrage !

Rien à redire, la lumière superbe valorise l'architecture dont la beauté n'est pas un scoop. Il doit être difficle d'atteindre l'entrée sans glissade. Très belle image, félicitations.

how does someone feel in the middle of such beauty and such majestic buildings? amazed, lost, small? well I think a mix of all these feelings is what i should feel if I was there, as this place is amazing and the surrounding square enourmous.
You captured a beautiful light hitting the palace walls, and the Russina flag waving at the wind is a nice add on.

The lighting in this photo is wonderful, and I love the way it brings the details of this beautiful palace to life. The architecture and colors are amazing. I also like the way we can see how cold it is with the ice and snow coating the floor in the shadows.

On sent le froid matinal(sol verglacé, vent, personne sur la place). Tu as bien fait de quitter l'hotel douillet pour avoir cette façade illuminée par les premiers rayons du soleil. Angle de vue recherché avec le lampadaire et la drapeau aux 1/3 de la photo
