Photographer’s Note

We finnally reached the compounds of Marie Antoinette and as you can see here the weather was much better than when we start under the rain. I was thrilled that all ended in a beautiful afternoon in the most wonderful place of the whole Park. To get here, it took about one hour walking from the Castle of Versailles and I thank you once again for the pleasant company and guidance of Jean Charles (JCG) all the way and back to the city and train station.

This is a view approaching the farm of the bizarre village and thatch-roofed farm built to entertain Marie-Antoinette.
The quintessentially picturesque Hameau de la Reine was built in 1783 as a play farm for Marie-Antoinette, so she could indulge the fashionable, Rousseau-inspired fantasy of the natural life.

See in wikipedia for more information and images of this lovely rustic retreat.

WS1 - Perspective of the walkway approaching the main building of the retreat located by the lake.

WS2 - Closer approach of the wonderful architecture of the main building.
