Photographer’s Note
Today I am in the mood to post a nice hardboiled industrial type of shot. Displayed here are the blue decks of the Express Xaroula a high speed twin hulled ferry, which is operated by Hellas Ferries for the daily service between the port of Volos (Pelion) and the islands of Skiatos, Skapolos & Alonysos.
We were one of the first to embark the ferry, and a delicious multi-level environment full of contrasting colours, strong criss-crossing lines presented itself still devoid of passsenger. A paradise for photographers like me who are attracted to graphism. Thru this I forgot that the cam was still set @ 200 ISO, so the pic is slightly noisy.
Blue and white is a song from the American singer-songwriter Beth Waters, from her 2004 debut album ‘Beth Waters’.
PS-E2 tech: skewed, cropped, saturation (master, reds) boosted/altered, USM-ed, frame added and saved for the web.
-----
After the crits of John & Paul I added as WS a picture of the ferry as a whole and another interior shot with a different perspective.

There are two games here : blue vs white and light vs shadow, and the result gives a really great graphism.
You have the eye, Bert, and you use it on the good way ;o)
My hat off !

Impressive and vivid colors you have captured here Bert. I like (as a Greek of course!) :) the contrast between the blue and the white! Very nice!

It doesn't seem to me too much noisy this picture. Very good colors saturation, pleasant play of lines and shadows. A pity that dark bag (?) on the top; good the presence of life bout on the right (it is reassuring and its color and circular form broke a little the prevalence of lines and diagonals). I'm enjoing with my Oly 5060, so I can imagine ypur pleasure with the 8080!

Mooie picture, Bert !

Excellent shot, Bert - Yves captured the essence of it when pointing out the assets as "blue vs white" and "light vs shadow". A most intriguing graphical maze of lines and shapes you created in this detail shot of the ferry; technically impeccable as usual. Added to the "Vertigo" theme.

I went directly from Mohammad's (Elihesamian) forest shot to this shot and what a contrast it is. Forests to the sleek, clean, lines of ships. This is really impressive, Bert. The paths are excellent and industrial as are the very pure and precise colors here. The lighting really enhances the shot, too. It's an excellent addition to your previous industrial feeling photos and again gives me a reminder of Charles Scheeler which I believe I have mentioned to you before. Excellent work!
And did you get anything really close and low of the bench. Just looking at this shot it seems like that could offer another good view if the deck offers a nice perspective.

Great shot, usually I think that this kind of pictures are too 'messy', but here I think that you got a wonderfull result, the colours helped you a lot, I liked the combination of the blue tones with the white ones.

I completely enjoy this strong blue/white composition, Bert! Because of the size, actually I can perceive it with great pleasure in two parts: one is the bottom part, with the leading staircase down..then following our way on deck further, we see the bright red life belt..and then, looking up - here we are on the second deck. Greatly composed in space, with very skillfully managed colours, light and details included. Excellent job!

They are the colors of the Greek flag. The composition interesting and is tallied perfectly. The decoration is in three dimensions, the light and the shades are well balanced.

So bright, so sharp, such a fascinating play of colours and shapes. I wish I could hang it in my room... So you're just back of a wonderful journey.

An excellent graphical shot, Bert, with beautiful strong colours. I like all the shadows, especially when the shadow lines bisect the white rails. Very well seen and framed.

Hi Bert
Baie mooi gedoen!

Great use of the natural details sparring with the blue, white setting and the fine shadows. The stairs adds some perspective and dynamic in the compo.
