Glass Giannena (77 minutes later) Photo

Photographer’s Note

A few days ago, I uploaded a photo (Glass Giannena), with almost the same framing and composition as this one, taken 77 minutes earlier. This one is sort of a "blue hour variation" of the other. I hope that you wouldn't mind if I copy the "old" note:

"Continuing my small tour around Ioannina and the lake, here you can see a small part of the lakeside road of the town. Walking on that road, by the castles walls (which you can't see in the photo because they are behind the trees), from "Naftakia" in the southeast, to "Kyra Frosyni" in the northeast, is one of the most romantic experiences of your life. Here you see the side of "Kyra Frosyni" or "Molos" for the locals, the place where you can take the small boats to visit the island of the lake and its village.

Inside the castle there are two citadels, two "acropolis", one on the southeast side, called "Its cale" (SEE HERE), and one on the northeast side (the one you see here), with the Aslan Pasha mosque (also seen in the photo, at least its minaret), one of the most beautiful mosques in Greece, constructed in 1618 (today a Municipal Museum).

Only for Greek members (unfortunately, I don't dare to translate in English) one of the beautiful poems by Michalis Ghanas about Giannena (Ioannina) contained in wonderful collection "Gyallina Giannena" (Glass Giannena). although i have been many times passing ioannina, i never felt the city to be that beauty. but, maybe because i was on a run. watching your gallery i am pretty sure, that next time i will have to spend more time in ioannina. lovely photo, lovely mood.

Hi Hercules, i love the purpel tones of this photo. The exposure is perfect and you get a very good shape and color definition. The red of the boats give a goed contrast to teh dark colors. Lovely work.

A wonderful sharp clean shot that is nicely composed. You have the diagonal lines of the hills converging at the tall structure. Well done. I am getting that 24-105 lens for Christmas. So far I like what you have shown us with this lens. Are you happy with it?

Two compositions equally valid, here you have special colors and beautiful reflections. It was worth while to repeat it, to show how a place can change in few minutes.

A new perfect sight of the lake of Ioannina with these blue tints. I don't know which I prefer, it isn't necessary to have a preference, every hour possesses a magic power which you know perfectly how to pass on.

otra de las que me gustan, ya lo sabes.
Pieso que captas muy bien la magia de la luz y los tonos a la hora azul.
Y claro, si tienes paisajes como éste, y además hay agua para incluir los reflejos, entonces ya creas una imagen preciosa.
