This is rather wonderful; you should send it in to Look North!
These showers are running right down the coast today. I can see a white line starts about Danby - we're the sunny side of it but still seeing flurries which are quite pretty were it not so cold in the wind!

Fantastic! It is like the stage of a theater! You go down the steps and there is your audience. Snow in England is not an every day sight I suppose and I always find it special when I see snow with the sea but this is just in my head as for me snow has to do with mountains etc. etc. I sit in my cottage and there is a huge snow storm going through and you cannot see a thing but white in white. Oh this is all so connected and I see snow in England taken some hours ago while sitting on my Swiss office chair seeing the snow falling down in heavy flakes when I look out of my window. Great photo from a to b, love the grey-pink with the dramatic clouds. Enjoy the white ... Barbara.

Excellent POV for this nice winter shot. Great graphic pattern created by the stairs and the crests of the incoming waves.
Have a nice weekend

Bonsoir Robert,
Le grand angle permet des compositions exceptionnelles quand il est bien utilisé, ce qui est le cas ici ! netteté et couleurs parfaites. Bravo.

Hello Robert,
Wonderful wide angle scene, with contrasting but matching colours in the sky. The sea with the architecture is an unexpected combination.

Hello Robert,
An excellent and atmospheric composition. I very much like the angle of view down the snow covered steps with the straight geometric lines through the lamps towards the incoming tide which has the appearance of moving in slow motion. Superb tones and clarity. Very well done.

Hi Robert,
a very moody sunrise POV ! Strange feeling here, between cold (the snow) and warm (the orange part of the sky), reinforced by the absence of people. The high angle of view is well used.

We had a light dusting on Sunday morning, but nothing like this - I'm envious!
This is a great shot Robi. Those twin lead-in lines and the sweeping descent of the staircase draw the eye in beautifully, and the scene is lent a real sense of drama by the quality of light and the threatening clouds on the horizon.
The horizon is tilted to the left a bit, but I imagine your priority was keeping the steps straight - the best choice, I think.
Good stuff.
Cheers,
Ben

I was thinking "Up early on a snowy, windy week-end!" Then I noticed you took this on a previous snowy occasion. It's amazing you got such depth and sharpness with only f4. It's a very graphic image with loads of lines, perspective and angles. What really makes it stand out is the pink light from the rising sun. The atmosphere is wonderful.

Beautiful shot! Snow always has a remarkable effect on a landscape - brightening the scene, showing the shapes of objects in new and unusual ways, and giving the whole scene a bright, chrystaline shine. This is a great example of what I'm talking about, because the whole photo seems to shine or glow from the light on the snow. Excellent work!

Hi Robie,
The PoV is gorgeous, the staircase and the constructions in general are quite picturesque and you knew how to use all those lines to produce a great compo, in which the sea and the amazing sky also play an important role. I guess it would be much less "magic" if it wasn't for the snow, which makes a good play with the foam on the sea. Maybe it's because I have little familiarity with snow, but I always feel surprised when I see snow near the sea.
Regards, José.

Wow, this is a beauty, Robi. And with a kind of surrealist mood too. I don't know if it's true but in my mind it's not so easy to get snow and sea mixed in the same view...The orange tones in the sky also contribute for some surrealism, together with the absence of people. It could be a scene showing the end of the world or something. Wonderful perspective of the stairs making the FG.

Hello Robi,
In this shot you have made the very best use of the marvellously theatrical viewpoint. The dusting of snow emphasises the elegance of the buildings and balustrades, and the touches of orange, in an otherwise black and white scene, are particularly effective because they are quite small and do not 'steal the scene' in the way a full blown sunrise would. A beautifully balanced composition. A great early morning's work!
Best wishes....Maggie
