Photographer’s Note

Yet another beautiful sunset last night, but this was so spectacular I grabbed the camera & shot out of the house.

This is a very small part of it, with the old lamps above our fountain in The Square looking great in front of the sky.

I tried cropping the chimneys out, but preferred it with them in.

Also hand held - I should also get into the habit of snatching up the tripod when I head out.

Hey Alastair,
Really nice colors and POV... pity that leaves came out of focus. If You do not feel like cropping out the chimneys maybe it would be a good idea to leave a bigger part of them in the composition's background?

Good idea but the leaves of the tree and the chimneys at left are distracting and remove the force of this image.

Alastair,
I must have enjoyed this lovely picture before, without commenting or critiquing, for I recognised it as soon as I saw its thumbnail today on an 'east lothian' search of the Photobucket site!
I think you were right to leave the chimney in, but I would like it better if you cloned out the trident on the edge.
