Photographer’s Note
This was my photographic obsession while in Syria: to try capturing the light and dust coming through a market's windows. This is as close to it that I got, but you can be sure that I spent litteraly hours prowling through the souks in both Damascus and Aleppo trying to catch the light while avoiding being runover by busy shoppers.
Taken in a courtyard of Damascus' old city.

i think it's worth the effort daniel... i both loved the light comin through the window and the tilt... and the light of the bulb also, adding a lot to the scene...

Hi Daniel
It is great that nobody disturbed you while you were working for hours.
I am always warned by someone not to take photos or asked by curious passers by why I am taking photos... aaargghhh...
About result, I definitely agree Korkut, its worth your effort.

It is an excellent work considering the difficult conditions and the harsh light coming from those openings. Well done.
Now about Syria. How easy it is to get around and take photos? Can we do it, say, freely in public places such as markets, streets and monuments? I am quite curious as I have been thinking about a tour to Jordan and Syria. So, your input would be much appreciated.
Antonio

Hola Daniel.

The souks of Aleppo and Damascus...
Perfect places for photographers who look for the thousands of years history of authentic light...
I stayed there for such a short time, but indeed, i was also obsessed with capturing its magic. You managed to capture those rays very well. My compliments.

Hi Daniel,
good attemp having in mind how difficult it can be to
'steal' a snap just while walking - as to me this looks
like an off-hip shot.
I'm joining Antonio in my curiosity to find out how difficult
is to shoot openly in Syria, or is it like anywhere else
where people appreciate your coming towards them in order
to get to know them better and then they might allow you
to shoot whatever you want, basically?
Cheers,
Robi

Hola Daniel:
John

Light is beautiful and the place very interesting and typical, as I spent hours losing myself there I'm happy to see your vision of this place, however I still prefer your marvelous portraits where the expression of the people is better captured - as someone mentioned, this seems like a casual off-hip shot.
Why not, some times ? This too shows us very well the atmosphere of the bazaars in Syria.
Best,
Amitiés,
Cath.

Bonjour Daniel

You sure had a fine light effect in this one Daniel. And at the same time a good capture of the people involved in their activities - the tilted version seems to work just fine in this compo.

PD. En navidad me voy a BCN. ¿Tú vas a Lima?
