Photographer’s Note

The Singel is a canal in Amsterdam which encircled the city in the Middle Ages. It served as a moat around the city until 1585, when Amsterdam expanded beyond the Singel. The canal runs from the IJ bay, near Central Station, to the Muntplein square, where it meets the Amstel river. It is now the inner-most canal in Amsterdam's semicircular ring of canals.

The canal should not be confused with the Singelgracht canal, which became the outer limit of the city during the Dutch Golden Age in the 17th Century.

The Singel is lined by many beautiful, richly decorated canal houses built during the Dutch Golden Age.

Amsterdam's famous flower market, Bloemenmarkt, is also located along the Singel between Koningsplein and Muntplein. The market stalls are actually boats floating in the canal!

Uma bonita foto de Amesterdao. Entretanto vou visitar a Polonia e a Suica, mas logo que possivel farei uma visita á Holanda.
Gosto muito da perspectiva que realca a arquitectura. As cores e a luminosidade estaao muito boas, mas a definicao podia estar melhor

Bela foto deste canal rodeado de edifícios tem uma arquitectura bem diferente dos de Portugal , muito interessante estas casas de vidro , gostei muito das cores e dos detalhes , espero que tenhas aproveitado bem a cidade de Amsterdam ,parabéns!!

Hi Tiago,

The point of view leads our eyes toward the curve of the canal which is giving perspective to the photo. The presence of the people and of the bioats has an effect of scale. The deatils and colors are clear and precise. The colors are enhanced by the quality of the light. Have a nice day.
