Photographer’s Note
During a walk in Basel yesterday I had the chance to encounter one of these nice vintage trams that are still in used for special rides, for example one of them has been converted in a small restaurant where people can have dinner while touring Basel on rail. The BVB tram company takes great care in preserving these oldtimers and there is a number of web sites dedicated to them.
For this image I tried a different type of vintage PP, hope you'll like it. Only anachronic detail here, the flags at the top announcing the Swiss indoors tennis tournament that takes place in Basel every fall featuring of course another local star: Roger Federer.

Bonjour Jean Yves!
What a fantastic photo!
I love the composition - very old tram and the man driving it is also with a whit beard. Great shot with a good perspective by the second part of a tram.
Great PP - I like the colours - from an old movie.
Good Job!

Hello Jean-Yves,
The black and white treatment, with its subtle tones, works well here producing a pleasing nostalgic image. The tram driver with his rather distinctive beard adds further to the mood.

Après la version moderne, un petit coup de nostalgie, bien accentué par ton posttraitement.Impressionné par la parfaite netteté de "l'extra Wagen"...et par le conducteur barbu qui a su se mettre en symbiose avec l'antique engin.

JY,
nice one! Walking around in Basel always has this special element of surprise around the corner. Knowing Basel quite well I tried to get an idea at what part of the city you got this here and I would guess Klein-Basel. Is my assumption right? Nice sepia touch to enhance the vintage feeling, but what really helps a lot for that is the conducter with his looooooong white beard.

Szia Jean Yves,
unusual to see in your huge gallery a monochromatic picture. Technically, as usual, is perfect but I think that this is why I don't feel enough the vintage mood here. Imo you were too shy in your pp work (;D. For example instead of the razor sharpness and the perfect light control, I'd prefer to see some blur and overexposure. I tried a WS to let you see what I mean. I had also an alternate idea, but it necessitates of the coloured and higher resolution version. It consists simply of a tight zoom on the frontal of the tram giving to it at last only a bit of way for running.
Tfs and have a pleasant Sunday.

Hello Jean
It's surely a marvelous picture.About the man with a long beard... his look is appropriate to stay there. An interesting and very good note.

Hello Jean-Yves,

Hi Jean-Yves,
Beautifully restored old tram, there's so much more details than on more industrial looking modern ones. Driver with the big beard seems to fit with older times too. I also like typography of '163'.
What colour is it?
