Photographer’s Note
This is the most famous monument of Petra. It is also the first major monument you see as you enter the site following a 2 km walk trough a canyon.
Light condition are not great in Petra because of the excessive sunlight and the contrast between the light and shadows.

As soon as I say it knew what I was looking at.. Too much dark matter on the left.

bonjour Daniel,

No cropping is needed on the left. There is a crack between light and shade, and like many cracks do, this one travels through the center. Even though the world is in deep financial crisis, i can spare my two bucks for a bet, concerning the balance of light and shade in this one. Who can claim that they are not of equal geometric areas? And i find it quite interesting....
Well, they say, Petra is a difficult place to make good photos. I need to go there and see myself, in order to decide it. But here contrarily, you show us that it is not that difficult to make good photos over there. When you have the guts, so little thing is difficult...

Hola Daniel.
Abrazos.

Salut Daniel,
Ton idée est originale. On dirait un effet de puzzle... Pourquoi pas? C'est bien vu

Hi Daniel,
Lovely natural presentation and I'm not bothered that
much with half of the frame showing the shadowed area.
After all, it IS a high-contrast area and those who don't
know what it's like to be in these light conditions, they
will only see the solution in editing it as an HDR (if that's
what pleases them).
I think you did a good job with colours and highlights,
and my only suggestion would be lens correction, but that's
not THAT important, of course.
Cheers,
Robi

Salut Daniel
