playing the local Venus Photo

Photographer’s Note

My 3rd post about this best amateur comedian, a simple housewife, met by chance in a narrow street below the "kale" (citadel) in Ortahisar. She has also been portrayed by Füsun (tehanu_f) and by Cem (Ozaslan) on TE.

She entertained us for a long time, absolutely unbridled, pretending sometimes to be a fervent religious woman, other times on the contrary losing her veil, laughing very loud with all her heart most of the time. Here she was trying my hat on, like asking "am I beautiful like this ?"...

I can assure you that she is NOT crazy at all, on the contrary : a very astute woman who knows how to earn a little extra cash with great talent, by selling headscarves to various visitors !

A great study here Catherine - what a pose you captured! I like the amused look on her face as well.
Some pleasing little details too, like the eye charm thingy next to the light switches, and of course my favourite - the feet!
It could perhaps do with a crop on the right to get rid of those intruding thingamibobs on that side.

je reste scotché devant ce portrait, tellement naturel et provocateur a la fois, loin des canons de la beauté, ce portrait en pied est certainement l'un des plus beau que j'ai pu voir sur TE dernièrement.

this was well worth waiting for as TE is so very slow to load up tonight. Yes, she has the pose and expression of a comedienne. I envy you her company. I like this presentation in black & white.

Hi Cath, great shot, showing us something of her personality and street. One suggestion regarding the asymetical framing would be to crop the image tighter on the right, as suggested by Ben, and having the wider frame on the other side to make her less central in the overall image. Catherine- B'ful composition in B&W. I love her expressions- being clicked so many times, as your note indicates, it looks as if she's saying...'Oh no! Not Again!!!'

Very sharp and detailed shot and I liked the asymmetric border also.

Here is my biggest regret of Cappadocia weekend, I didn't have chance to meet here!! :(((
Fusun, Canan and Cem told about her so much that it is like I was there with them, if only I was really there :)
It is an amazing photograph of here, she has a very cute face and a smile. Her standing next to wall, her hand on her scarf, a very natural pose...
I also like the thick framing at the wall wide, one of your best "humane" photos...

wow, catherine! what a character you have found there... fantastic expression and i love that accent you have put on her feet... in all her display and attitude she reminds me a lot of my grandmother... wish i was into taking photos while she was alive :)

hi cath,
so this is another living proof that women are from Venus!
... i'm glad i'm not the only one picturing the concept ;o)
even if she might have lost some of her original fresh and girlie look in time, she more then likely gained a lot more in charm and in charisma.
in any case and in everyone of her portraits (made by you or by your fellow photographers) she reveals a brilliant personality.
someone funny. someone pleasant to be with. someone you want to have around.

Enthousiasmant, chère Cath ! Une vraie étude de caractère, ça crève l'écran, bravo bravo! Et la note...tu devrais publier un livre, franchement. Que j'aime son audace, pas complexée du tout et du charme à revendre:). Ton noir et blanc est impeccable. (j'aurais également élagué ces "brols" à droite, comme le dit Ben.)
