Photographer’s Note
Jasper National Park
Driving through Jasper National Park was wonderful, especially on that beautiful day when the sun was shining and when there was no single cloud on the sky. We really HAD to stop every couple of minutes to enjoy the fantastic view and to take some pictures. There were many beautiful places we wouldn´t have discovered if we had just driven from one parking lot to the other.....just like the river you can see on my picture. Looking out of the window I saw a nice little river on the right, that was quite hidden behind bushes, so I told my father to stop. Actually I hoped to see a Grizzly Bear trying to catch some fish or other animals quenching their thirst on the water, so I walked down to the river. Well, there was no bear (but at least we saw two of them on our way back), but I had a wonderful view along the river, so it was worth the stop anyway.
It was quite hard to place my tripod on these rocks, and it was so bright, that F/22 only allowed me to use 1/5 second to make the river "floating", but it still worked quite okay. The colors of the photo aren´t edited, I used my polarizer, and that did all the job for me :)
I´m glad for any advice, hint or proposition, that could help me to improve my photography.

Hi Jonas - fine composition with a strong sense of perspective and nice diagonals created by the tree line & the mountain. Not so sure about the long exposure though IMO - it works well in those moody, atmospheric shots but kind of detracts from the power of this river as it flows into the distance.
Fine piece of work nonetheless.

Hello Jonas
The colours are superb and saturated well with a nice composition, silky racing water and spot on sharpness. A very good Canadian scene captured here.

Hi Jonas,
Very interesting note. I thought it was taking during a trek actually. You're lucky to have these scenery at ome foots from the road! ;o)
I think you did very well with the photograph here. A lovely canadian nature scene as i like them ;o)
Everything works well. The Composition is perfect as many lines lead to a converging point, up to the mountains (the one in the backgorung looks like a glacier, is it?). Color saturation is excellent, maybe some rocks could feel like burnt because of harsh sun light but looking it a second time I think it's just fine. About the long exposure I can't believe you managed it by such bright light in fact! I still cannot do it myself. I do not agree with Roberto and think the smooth effect of the river is a good idea as it contrasts with the very sharp rest of the scenery. It enhance the feeling of velocity and finally avoid the 2D effect of a full nature (no people, no animal) pic.
Great work!
Pris.

Hi Jonas,
This is a very fine photo in all the aspects and the only way to improve it is to by an alarm clock and be there at sunrise:)
Cheers:)

Hi Jonas,
super Bild. Hier passt einfach alles. Bildaufbau, Farben, Schärfe usw. Die fließende Bewegung des Wassers passt hervorragend und macht dein Photo noch interessanter.
Viele Grüße aus München

Great shot Jonas;
The exposure here is perfect, just the right amount of blur to shot the movement. nice view up the river, the polarizer really worked well with the sky, very natural colors and an overall great shot.
Well done,
- Dan

Jonas,
This is fantastic wheather for such a wonderful landscape. You're right, if you don't stop and take sometimes, you miss many wonderful scenery. But in Canada's Icefield Parkway, the road between Jasper and Banff, it so beautiful all the way, you can't possibly stop every time you see something nice. Well, you stop as many times, especially you have such a nice day. When I was there, I didn't see much of Jasper, because it rained and snow, even in August last year. This one is great, technically all is just perfect. Good sharpness and clarity, good composition. Thanks

Hallo Jonas,
Maybe i was lucky with the weather at Mt Rainier, you were more lucky in Jasper. I had only clouds and rain while you had wonderful weather with clear blue skies. Man that blue is something i was hunting for, so deep, so intense, so beautiful.
The low shutter gave you a nice movement in the water, but also the perspective depth is very clever composed...your good eye did not let you down...great shot.
Hope to see more from you in and around Jasper...
Take care, Henk

Hallo Jonas!

;-) Tolle Arbeit!
Beste Grüße
Mark

Hi Jonas,
A good photographic work here, I like much the aspect of the torrent with this f/22. The landscape is fantastic and quite luminous. An area which I will like to discover one day !!! Natural space to be protected absolutely. Thank you Jonas for this pretty and pleasant panorama.
With all my friendships and a very good day… Very difficult to connect correctly in this moment !!!

Hello Jonas,
Haha, I like the 'we HAD to stop every couple of minutes'.
I know the feeling and you picked the right moment here to stop.
I might have added a little touch of yellow to it. The green gets quite cold now, but it's really nice.
Greetings,
Dennis

Hi Jonas,
Beautiful capture of the nature in this national park. I love the combination of the blue sky and the green of the trees. The colours are wonderfully brought out by the fine sunlight too. The river is also very well placed in the composition. Very well done!

Jonas, the blue sky makes everything even more beautiful and you did a nice work capturing the nice view of this river. The motion creates something different, but I don´t know if I like it like this or would be better with sharpen details on the white splashes. Anyway, its different from it all we have seen and I like it. The framing is excellent, with nice depth. Excellent photo, my friend!
Regards,
Zeca
