Photographer’s Note
Most views of Peyto Lake, along the Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper, are looking up the rift valley (see my other posts from this magical location). In this shot, we see the 'head' of the lake,
with the alluvial silt and gravel from the glaciers on the left side. As everyone who has seen this lake will attest, the water really is that incredible colour.
Cropped and resized from a RAW image.

Hello Jeff,
I like this photo : the lake has such an incredible colour ! It is like a jewel in the middle of mountains.
I like your point of view. Trees in the foreground are making like a frame for the picture.

Hi Jeff,
You're right that lake is an amazing colour, wish I could remember my Chemistry lessons as to what causes it.
Fantastic capture, the mountain looks so majestic, like the way you included the forground to give the shot depth.
Another "gem" from you.
Regards
Peter

Indeed, that place is really a photographer's dream, and you had a good idea to show the alternate POV ;)
Very good color management to get the lake's color despite the overcast.

Hi Jeff,
I like this view of Peyto better because is different. I get tired of looking at the same lake picture taken from the same spot. Good details and the colour of the water look awesome. This place is beautiful. Thanks Jeff.

Hi Jeff:
This is absolutely fantastic. Thanks for breaking out of the stereotype. I tried to get this shot when I was there, but the clouds were lowlying and blended in with the glacier. This one is excellent--I love the light on the mountains, the reflection, and of course that incomparable Peyto blue.
