Photographer’s Note
Finished in early fifties by russians as a gift from Soviet Union to people of Poland. It was first opened during Stalin era therefore Stalin was chosed for patron of Palace. Of course it is not respected nowadays.
Palace after all was and is great place.
There's part of Palace called "Palace of Youth" where I could as a child attend classes on almost everything I wanted. From painting, sculpturing to advanced computer technologies and sport activities. I have great memories from there and remember very special feeling of place itself.
Since I was born I lived 10 minutes of walking distance from Palace and what you see here is actually view from my window :)
Picture was taken during christmas time.. that's the reason why it is decorated this way.
It is one of the only solid (like well standing ;-) buildings build during communism era in Poland. It is still the tallest building in Poland. Height is 234m (just about the same as Woolworth building in New York)

Good night shot of this imposant building and highly interesting note about it. That's make me remembering the days in 1972 when I have been there.

Hi Marius,
Excellent night picture. It is well exposed, and the moon adds a nice touch to the photo. It is usually hard to take the moon and something else at night and be able to manage correctly the exposition. Well done. The building is well exposed but one thing I would try to do is to work on the clock a little bit. It is a bit overexposed and if you ever have a chance to redo this picture, try to see if you can get the clock less exposed. But it is not an easy task. Your photo is very good. :o) The note is interesting also. Good work.

As cores do ceu em contraste com as luzes amarelas e a lua dão mais força a composição. Gosto da posição lateral da torre. Saudações. Tony.

Fantastic colours and excellent exposure. The blue of the sky really hits me . The cloud layer over the moon gives a feeling of coldness end enhances the moon itself (usually the moon is very small on 210 mm). Very beautiful the sharpness, too - good lenses and film. It seems to fly near the building.

Great night shot. Good exposure, moon and building light are balanced. Only the clock is a little overexposed. Well done.

Very good night shot. Very nice sky with the clouds and nice moon shrouded there. The building is nice and sharp and nicely to the side. I like the lights on it. It is an impressively lit structure. And I also like the sense of height felt here with this shot. It stands alone above the moon even on this big sky. Very impressive. Good shot.

Great setting of colours and light. The building is well captured and the moon is a delightful 'add-on'. Well done Mariusz..

Dzien Dobry Mariusz, it's a fine night photo you present us, very sharp and with excellent light management. The moon and the XMas lights add to a superb composition. I would have enclosed a bit of the base of the building as well.
Just a question, I believed the name of this building was "Dom Kultury", am I wrong ?

Is this really THIS??? Was this ugly building reconstructed or renovated? I can remember the palace was given by Stalin for Polish nation. Built in the center of Warsaw was showing whose culture is dominating in this country. But great composition and colours of your photo show us another side of this Russian souvenir. Very well done.
