Photographer’s Note
Another picture of Hailes Castle taken at the same time as this one in low early evening sun in April. I liked the light and the long shadows cast across the grass from the Tower House on the right, with the remains of the south curtain wall on the left.
You can read more about this interesting castle which contains some of the oldest standing stonework in Scotland here.
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

Hi John, very nice lightening. I like the sun-light coming through the wall and makes nice shades.
Nice picture John!

Hi John,
the light is excellent and gives us a phantastic impression of the structures of this ruin.
I also like the soft colours, especially the green of the ground that looks like a carpet.

Hello John,
Another excellent image - the ragged skyline resulting from the tops of the castle walls and the trees behind them, makes a strong composition. A well framed and titled picture too.
The shaft of sunlight across the grass makes a fine diagonal to lead the eye into the picture, and the receding wall on the right gives good perspective.
Now, it may be my monitor, or my septuagenarian eyes, but I find the contrast in light and dark between the sky and the dark castle walls a bit abrupt, so that it's not easy to make out the detail in the shadows.
So, I've posted a WS for your appraisal.
Let me know what you think.
You can be honest!
Regards,
Peter.

Hi John,
A very fine picture with a good silhouette of the ruined wall and the sunlight coming in the the opening.
The details look clear enough on my monitor, and after looking repeatedly at Peter´s WS (and back again) I really can´t say which one is the better one. Maybe his version looks a bit sharper.
But this is not so important in my view. What I like most here is the composition with the diagonal line starting in the upper right corner and further through the shadows on the grass.
Greetings from Gothenburg

John HI;
This composition is just wonderful. The clarity, colors, light, shadows and POV are stunning. Excellent note, as always, thanks.
Congratulations, very very well done.
