Photographer’s Note
I've got loads of swan pictures, I'm lucky to live a very short distance away from a nature reserve, so plenty of photo opportunities arise.
This is one of my favourites, the swan looks in a world of its own, thinking thoughts we can't even begin to imagine.
Unfortunately it wasn't one of the sharpest of images when I loaded it into the pc, so rather than discard it I decided to turn its softness into an advantage.
By duplicating the image onto a new layer, and making this an adjustment layer, then using the threshold filter to create a pure black and white copy, which was then blurred, changing its properties to screen and its opacity to around 30% I created the dreamy surreal glow to the swans pure white plumage, which blended in nicely with the general softness of the image.

Very nice positioning of the swan head. And a nice portait actually. But to tell you the true your effect is prevending me from enjoying..I can hardly look at it...I think you overdid it...try to to do the same with less even opacity...

Mmm, I like this. Nice and dreamy composition - great focus on the eyes. A somewhat blurry but that just adds to the feeling :-)
Good work!
