Photographer’s Note

it's been a while. so long in fact that the last pictures i uploaded were from this event last year!

buddhist birthday festival, may 2008, at southbank, brisbane. this statue sat in front of incense sticks and devotees for many long hours, yet he kept smiling.

the detailing came from a hdr effect on photoshop, which i thought came out quite well. hence, the upload.

i love the smooth texture of the face...

Hello Craig,

Yes, it has been a long time since we last saw you on TE. I myself have been too busy recently to get out and take photos, but I drop by TE on occasion to keep myself updated. I saw the red lanterns being hoisted up at Southbank again this year, but a volley of 4 assignments meant I was unable to visit. Hopefully next year! Good to see other religions and cultures being celebrated in this city, it is what Brisbane needs. The Greek festival was on also recently, that too would have been good to see. I like this close-up, reminds me of my trip to Thailand, but the Buddha’s over there were usually the more slender ones with the pointy hats. Well done!

Good tight crop on the rather garish features of the Happy Buddha. It is not the usual subject for HDR, but it has resulted in a natural image. Well done
