Photographer’s Note
While hanging around in Hannuman Ghat on Lake Pichola in Udaipur, I saw some dhobi wallah (or just "regular" women) cleaning some laundry. Suddenly, I saw this one adjusting her shawl as she had finished her work before going back home.
I don't know if she was a dhobi wallah or not, but my friend couldn't believe that all these women who looked so beautiful in their saris were considered some of the most impure people in the Hindu world as they clean other people's impurities. That's part of the dilemmas of India...

Clement, I have had another look in your gallery. You have certainly come a long way in photography in the time you have been on TE. You have a good eye for an interesting composition. I like this one a lot, the way the light is coming through her shawl. The diagonal of the tiled footpath is a strong feature, and the colour of her washing and buckets. The reflection of the sky in the water looks amazing, as if she is perched on a platform in the sky! Very effective photo. It certainly deserves more recognition and critiques.
Regards,
Andrew

Bonjour Clement
I like the way you composed this shot, in a diagonal, but more importantly the lady, who is adjusting her orni or dupatta (not a shawl), with the sun light through the thin cloth. Well seen. I might have wished for a bit wider view, but that's just a thought. Lovely refelction of the sky on the water as well. Have seen your gallery & I do echo the views of Andrew. Look fwd. for more such beauties!

hello Clement,
perfect timing for this photo, I like a lot how the shawl creates a natural frame for the solhouette of the woman, it feels very delicate and feminin. the composition also works well, you have placed everything just right in the frame. I might prefer a touch sharper photo and slightly increased contrasts - I understand that your intention was to maintain the slight overexposure to convey the bright light, but it seems there's a slight gray cast. I've tried a WS, although the file you have uploaded is very small, less than 60Kb instead of 200Kb that TE accepts, therefore there are slight artefacts. but I just wanted to show what I meant by "increased contrasts".
in any case - very nice work, I like it a lot.
regards,
Kristine
