Photographer’s Note
High above my lodging in an isolated group of huts, very far from the road I met one morning this tribal beauty. She arrived from that track quite suddenly ; both surprised by our apparition (never saw a foreigner up there, and what funny hat !), we smiled... Magic moment !
(NB : => If you follow this link, you’ll be able to tour a series of photos on this subject = a village in the clouds (some of them, you have already seen, others are new - some, rather FYI, but interesting IMHO) and return to the original post : =>the next photo that I took, she seemed a bit impressed - but then smiled again later on.
... Conversations only with gestures ; they don't go down very often, only market days 'if' they have something to sell (livestock).
******************
(I know there are some overexposed areas and I don't know how to handle this ; I could have changed the aspect of the corner, top right and cloned a bit of the tree too...)

Hello Catherine,
A nice, spontaneous portrait with documentary value rather that technical perfection. Which means that I don't care at all about the slight overexposure towards the top of the photo. A slight pity though about her cut-off hands. I don't know it that was intentional or the kind of mistake that happens when you're in a hurry. I might have preferred cropping more of her arms to make it look deliberate:-)

Gert

Bonjour Catherine
A superb daily life scene fromm South India, with good colour, sharpness & lighting. I like the subtle smile of the woman carrying the metal pots on her head. Bon weekend!

Hello Catherine. A photo for eye and soul. The smile of the friendly woman is pleasant. This smile remains for the viewer in memory. Very beautifully. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hey Cath,
I`ve missed your work this past couple of days, too bad. Anyway, as always, the perfect documentary shot, from India. A wonderful portrait, nice colors, and a beautiful background, looks like some rain- or cloudforest.
Swell work.
See you around.

Bonjour Catherine,
Cordialement,
Marianne

Hey,
Thanks for sharing a unique portrait to us - this is a nice shot of the lady living out her village life. The earthy tones throughout are very nice.
Cheers!

What makes me think of this photo is that we are talking about the country with the bigger economical development in the last decade, so I hope part of the money goes to this people for a change. A thoughfull photo Catherine.

Strange how her expression changed between the two photos. This smiling one is by far the best choice of the two. I wouldn't worry about the over-exposure as we are far too occupied admiring her skill with the containers on her head. Well done

bonjour Catherine

Bravo, vraiment,
Branko

Hi Catherine,
when I was a child, I often went to visit my parents in a little mountain village. Here there are no cars, in houses there is no water and women were going to take it to public fountain, having a copper container on one’s head.
Many realistic your shot. Thanks for sharing.
Ciao

Hi Katherine,
amazing portrait, unusual "construction" on the head and nice smile of woman. Good shot. I like it.

Hi Cath. I was looking at the nuances of this shot. Appealing. The pecking cock behind, the balancing pots overhead, the naughty streaks of the immaculate smile on the innocent face with the pinned up corner of the cloth for covering up her bossoms made a nice composition. Great indeed. Appreciation of beauty is more important to me -- hence the grammar of over or underexposure takes a backseat. All the best, dear.

Dear Cath,
Fine image.
The woman, her environment and her daily life is well seen here.. As read in notes and your reply to Gerit, it's understood there was not enough time to make a click as desired.. and I appreciate this reflex from you, and agree with your words..She arrived from that track quite suddenly ; both surprised by our apparition (never saw a foreigner up there, and what funny hat !), we smiled... Magic moment ! Yes, MAGIC MOMENT !!!
Beautifull, well shot.
All the best.

Bonjour Catherine,
Magnifique.
Bon dimanche Eric /.

Very nice portrait! and might i add absolutely awesome album too! I myself hail from andhra pradesh and I really loved the photos.A trip to India usually is full of pictures from Rajasthan or Jammu & Kashmir. But this is totally different. Great Job.

Bonjour Catherine,
