Photographer’s Note

Maybe you'll recognize some of these women (other photos of them here) : in fact, they were not arguing with each other, but about the unfair treatment to them by a male banana trader.

This I understood clearly, but of course none of them could speak a word of English, I could only observe the scene with the body gestures etc... A great encounter in a fascinating old fruit and vegetable market in Visakhapatnam, I spent an hour in their company, observing their sometimes hotly debated arguments, other times when they were joking and relaxing. They had accepted my presence, here they had totally forgotten about me.

(Same scene, taken a bit later... I would have loved to research this group, to know more about their jobs, their homes and families, how much they earned etc... so many hidden stories...)
(NB : there is someting that disturbs me really, right in the middle of this photo : the white newspaper with a yellow lemon on it => if someone knows the best solution to camouflage it, please let me know...)

Hi Catherine... Today´s photo has a painting quality that I love, reminds me to this Velazquez´s portrait of cotidianeity, or Caravaggio, altough, of course, you dont have here the kind of light this masters of the universe used, of course, of course, but you have this spirit of a momento of mankind freezed for ever.
About the paper and the lemmon. Dont have a answer, but I an not sure if I were notice it if you havent mentioned... Maybe select it and bring down the luminance? Well just an idea. Take care.

Hello Catherine,
Saw your struggle with the white paper in the middle, i could not resist to work on it...good enough?
Also a tiny bit (10%) more contrast on some certain colours, not over the whole picture which is good enough to leave it like it is. The strong colours from India are very well presented, i like it a lot.

It is possible to go to India and bring back some exposed fangs and prickly fingernails…

bonne scène colorée, il y a de l'animation par ici on dirait :)
Les expressions et les gestes sont très parlant, pas besoin de son !
C'est vrai que la partie blanche surexposé au centre dérange, difficile à rattraper ici...
Mais je vois que Floydian a fait des miracles dans le WS.

Una gran captura, me gusta el ambiente tan natural que desprende la imagen con el grupo de mujeres que discuten acaloradamente.
Excelente retrato de grupo, my bien compuesta y con excelentes colores.
