Photographer’s Note
No new photos for a while, so I've been trawling through the back-catalogue.
This one's a bit different - an attempt at an IR on the Canon 350D. Infra-red is difficult for this camera; I understand the sensor has a film coating that makes IR penetration particularly difficult. This meant quite a long exposure (a minute, as I recall) and manual focus before screwing the filter in.
There was a fairly stiff breeze at the time - as there so often is down on the coast in Gippsland - and I mounted the tripod on a rocky outcrop and weighed it down with the rest of my gear to add stability. Think I used mirror lock-up, too, and a remote release.
The diagonal effect over the clouds to the right of the frame is actually a rainbow, stripped of its colours by the filter.
Green channel only, rendered into B&W in Photoshop CS2.

Hi Simon,
Beautiful dramatic, eerie looking shot.
I once rode my bike to Sale I think and the wind was so strong that top speed was about 8kmph. if you stopped pedalling you would go backward. Your efforts are well rewarded.
Regards
Santo
