Photographer’s Note

Joseph Mallord William Turner (23 April 1775 – 19 December 1851) was an English Romantic landscape painter, watercolourist and printmaker, whose style can be said to have laid the foundation for Impressionism. Although Turner was considered a controversial figure in his day, he is now regarded as the artist who elevated landscape painting to an eminence rivalling history painting.He is commonly known as "the painter of light".His work is characterised by a chromatic palette and broadly applied atmospheric washes of paint.

Place Vendôme is a square in the 1st arrondissement of Paris located to the north of the Tuileries Gardens and east of the Église de la Madeleine. It is the starting point of the Rue de la Paix. Its regular architecture by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and pedimented screens canted across the corners give the rectangular Place Vendôme the aspect of an octagon. The Place Vendôme Column at the center was erected by Napoleon to commemorate the battle of Austerlitz.

That column is one of the most beautiful in all Paris, if not, the most beautiful. And your picture shows it in grand splendour, with a great greenish tint. The central POV is absolutely right as it is the way the column is seen from the street. Very well done.

This image iteself has wonderful lighting and attractive colours.....very much like the paintings of Turner, I would think. Your POV is excellent providing the viewer with a wide and balanced view of the column and it's surroundings. Well done.

Hola my friend! how are you doin? Thanks for critique on my photo, im glad too se a new shot from you. I like color balance amd good contrast. It looks very lively, the sky has got amazing colors and you composed it well. I think it is too much sharpen detalis, but still it looks very intresting.

Yes, this image send us to that old paintings, the light and the colors are this way. I liked this pov and compo too. The column is very nice put with the buildings façades sending our eyes to it.

I was attracted to this picture from the thumbnail itself, has a feel of a painting & how good the reference of Turner here for this shot! Great saturated colours on the facades & the column, green, stands out. If I were to nitpick I would about the noise in the sky...otherwise a delightful capture!

Thats what I mean when I say I love your photographic skills.

The perspective here is outstanding and working perfectly giving depth. I believe you had a hard sky in this one, I can tell from the halo around the edges of the buildings where you probably reduced the brightness giving better exposure balance.

repassant la teva galeria he vist aquesta foto i m'ha impressionat el seu fantàstic cromatisme, la seva lluminositat i les textures que realment fan que sembli una pintura.
Hi ha una perfecta perspectiva amb una gran fuga de les línies de l'arquitectura a cada banda, i un magnífic eix de simetria ofert per la columna. Gran foto, m'agrada.

Felip, je ne sais ce que tu as fait pour obtenir cet effet de peinture mais je trouve la photo très réussie. La lumière est superbe et met en valeur les façades et la colonne. Le ciel est particulièrement réussi. Turner est un de mes peintres préférés. J'ai placé ce cliché dans le Thème "Hommages aux peintres".

Very interesting coloured composition it's an original style.
But I think with less lights it will be possible to give a more dramatic sky and less exposure to the white parts.
