Photographer’s Note

This shot was taken on a small outcropping of rock that served as a great seat, looking right into Titcomb Basin, in the heart of the Wind River Mountain Range. This past June, I went on a mountaineering/backpacking trip into the Winds to climb Gannett Peak, the highest point in Wyoming. The mountain is considered one of the hardest state high points for its exteremely long approach through the Winds, coupled with legitimate glacier travel to over 13,800'.

This specific shot was taken at our camp at Island Lake at the southern end of Titcomb Basin. The mountain in the background is Freemont Peak, a good class 3 scramble.
