Photographer’s Note
This picture was taken in a Village called Montesinho "SmallMountain" which belongs to the Natural Park of Montesinho preserved by the state. The name came from a small moutain, i´ll post it on workshop one of this days, next to the village. There are other villages in this park but Montesinho village is of course the most significant because the only way in is the only way out, unless you have a 4X4 Jeep and get out throught the mountains.
Montesinho has 20 to 30 citizens leaving there all year but as it is such a beautiful place to visit and the perfect spot to rest there are many houses to rent and a lot of people pass their weekends there. My parents live in the city, but not for long :), because they bought a small rock house there, restored it and every single weekend is passed 300 Km from the city and away from me :)!
This picture represents the work of people in the month of June and most important, the existence of this kind of work know a days. All citizens and most of the foreign people like to help on this traditional but indispensable work, it´s a matter of survival not a hobby. With straw people feed their animals which will help on other country work, like the plantation of patatoes, tomatoes, carrots, latace, etc!
Hope you like it and if any time you visit Portugal, go and ask for Montesinho in Bragança, it´s worthy!

thanks for your picture and your note. I am planning a trip to Portugal next year and I will surely ask for Montesinho. What I like in your picture is that it bring to me memory and a smell of freshly harvested hay

Baling straw and hay is hard work! You've captured a vital part of farm life here. Good action in this shot, and a good capture of her expression as she works.

it would be an excellent picture if there wasn't somebody behind the woman, now there is someone's hat exactly behind her. the rest is good - good compo, sharpness, colors, interesting and natural scene.
good shot, but I am sure it could be even better ;)

This is a good one Bruno. One thing that comes to my mind though...the persons behind the woman in the foreground...maybe you could clone them out. Your composition is really goos as is colour and...well, it is a technicly very good shot.

Between the photo and your note you have done a great job of allowing us to see a part of life in Portugal that is very much overlooked. Thank you for capturing this for us.
