Photographer’s Note
Just after sunrise following rare snow overnight. The trees were fully grown but they are dwarfed by the huge cliff, and I tried to capture the scale of the scene.
I entered this photo in two club competitions and an international salon with no success. I also entered it in a national salon where it got the lowest possible mark. I then sent it to a photo magazine and they printed it.
So if you have a photo that only you like, keep trying!

Hello Alan! Impressive cliff! The trees look like cut-outs with the snow on them against the clean stone. The light is very well managed, and the composition lets us appreciate the awesome dimensions of the cliff. It certainly needed some sharpening :-)
Very good work! I won't forget about the morale of your note!
Best regards,
Inés

Hello Alan
This is an intriguing shot. On the thumbnail it could have been of an exquisite miniature - in the style of the tiny, detailed cork carvings. In the large version the scene is even more strange - the various marks on the cliff face create some very interesting effects. The golden brown colour is beautiful, and your vertical format composition is very effective. No wonder you have wanted to persist in promoting this shot - you can no longer say that only you like it!
Best wishes Maggie

Amazing! The bottom looks like a reptilia, like a chameleon or an iguana. The patterns on the steep cliff boost imagination and the trees being the only scale-marks are a powerful element... Maybe like a zero to the right of one making it ten.
Hmm... If you unfocus your attention you might think the trees are not trees but just tiny plants, like grass...
