Wishing you all Happiness and Prosperity for a Happy New Year of the Rat !
This praying scene is taken from a secondary temple of the landmark Six Banyans complex in Guangzhou, the horrible sky and associated light pushed me to play with aging techniques, the little noise in the sky has been intentionally added.

Hello Jean-Yves,
I think the sepia treatment works well, producing an image with a timeless quality despite the tourists in their western clothes. Good point of view and very appealing tones and clarity.

good one, with a good work of PP, and excellent POV too.
every morning i did breakfast in a bar close to by office, and the owner is a chinese family so i well know that in this days there is the New Year for them. and not only, in this day there is also the Carnival in Milan (one week later than the rest of the world), so today the children of the owners wer dressed with mask for carnival and were also celebrating a new year!
ciao

Salut Jean Yves
And a Happy Year of the Rat to you, too, JY! I like the sepia tone here. I stayed on Shamian Island, & didn't see much of Guangzhou, so thanks for sharing. Bon travail!

Nice pp Jean Yves. When I was at college it was amazing how you could rescue a shot by going the b&w route. The sepia type tones work well and the noise helps to give it that film look.
Best regards,
Mark

Hello Jean-Yves,

Cheers

Hi Jean-Yves,
Even you give a change for B&W when faced with this view of traditions (next to concrete block). Well done sepia toning. I could bet the colours were boring. Noise looks quite convincing, no signs of sand like sharpness that digital noise usually has.

Hi Jean Yves,
Interesting colour toning, not something we might expect on such an image but for for me it works pretty good. It gives a kind of nostalgic feeling to it which suits the picture very well....nice work.

Happy New Year to you too! The year of the Rat. Where I live (Vancouver) there is a very large Chinese population (something like 30% of the city) so today is a big day. Nice vintage feel in this photo, which seems to have been made 50 years ago. Well done!

Bonjour Jean-Yves,
Cordialement,
Marianne

Hi JY, unusual shot for you (well, still not checked out your recent portfolio), N&B give an appropriate timeless quality to the scene, mmm, need to think abuot the caligraphy, but makes it look a bit like an old Mao era postcard.
