Photographer’s Note
I am always looking for a new spot to get that big wave photo. You have to get a spot where one you can have a quick exit and two the angle of the barrel is breaking towards you so you can get deep inside. I good way to keep your camera dryer is to cover it with see through plastic we call it in Australia gladwrap. It is very thin and you can still operate the settings on your camera and costs next to nothing.It has saved two cameras aready.
Take care Richard.

Nice shot Richard;
I'm intrigued by your suggestion of using glad wrap (as we call it in Canada as well), to protect your camera... Do you cover the lens as well? I'd really be interested in seeing what it looks like when wrapped up- maybe post some shots of your camera outfit as a workshop (or to my e-mail at danielswalsh@mac.com)?
Nice detail in the waves thanks to having the perfect tonal levels with nothing over/ under exposed.
All the best!

Hello Richard,
Love the sea lizard, to me the lizard part is an iguana shaped head in the middle of the barrel, is that what you saw? Wonderful photo, the patterning of the wave is sharply taken, it is very effective. Colours are naturally saturated and the water seems quite inviting for a swim. Well done.

Excellent shot Rick with great colour and excellent sharp detail. More to the point though, I appreciate your note giving a couple of decent tips on how you achieve a shot such as this.
Thanks, John

Hi Ric !
Excellent, that´s what I call the face of the wave ! With a little fantasy you can see the nose, the eyes, the hair, even the shoulder :)...
great capture.
Cheers chris

Love the structure of the wave captured from so small distance. I can feel the movement and all that wild force. Great shot!
