Photographer’s Note
the second in a series from brisbane's chung tian buddhist temple.
there were two rows of statues up the driveway as you enter the complex. most of the statues seemed to have soft, round, welcoming faces. all except this guy. he looked up at the sky in stern, yet peaceful tones. not an opportunity i could pass by.

Nice picture, the black and white give a very good feeling to the picture. I'm a bit bother by the very dark shadows in both eyes.

Hi Craig,
This image has good tones, contrast, and texture ... all essential ingredients for a good B&W photo. I like the cropping to really highlight your subject. Well composed ... good work! tfs

Hello, Craig -
Very interesting view. I like the shadows in his eyes; it gives him more character. Your DOF is a bit shallow, though. You really didn't need 1/400, did you?

Hi Craig, this guy could be used for an interesting lighting demo. These are great features with very interesting shadow detail prevalent. I think for the most part you've handled it well. The top down light gives it a very good austere look, which fits will with the character. You've cropped it well to give us just the head. Great presentation.
Thanks, John

Bonjour, cher Graig,

Ciao Craig,
beautiful example of good management of the light and the shades. Even if the expression is very serious, the composition is very pleasant and rich of details. Good job, compliments.
Ciao

Hi Craig,
good crop, B/W is well used and so is contrast. I like the stone texture.
