Photographer’s Note
The lost raiders ...
taken at the Escalade celebration last year.
For the people of Geneva the Escalade is the symbol of their independence. The escalade (literally : « scaling the walls ») marks the final attempt in a series of assaults mounted throughout the 16th century by Savoy which wanted to annex Geneva as its capital north of the Alps.
Every year the commemoration of the victory of the Genevans on invading Savoyan troops takes place at old town and schools. For this year the event take place starting this friday. The history and the program can be found here[click].
Between the programs, these genevans roaming the old town streets - which in some parts now are actually shopping centers, full of people on saturday doing christmas shopping. so here they are, ... look like lost, placed in the wrong century, both sides shocked :D
But I hope I can be at old town again this week end. Every year we try to see this event. here are some photos I took last years, it certainly an event I won't miss :)

Very funny with the partial desaturation. They really look lost like in a different movie! Well seen.

Hello Cessy,
A+

Hi cessy
Looks like these raiders from another era, just got transported into the 21st century in a time machine, & everyone's dazed & confused. Good use of partial desaturation. Bagus sekali! Terima kasih.

Hi Cessy, I love the B&W /colour mix, you have worked the PP brilliantly, a nice busy picture with very good light & TFS, kind regards Wilson. PS, I changed my logo picture on TE to a tennis ball with my name WILSON on it & I got the idea off you, thanks.

Hi Cessy,
I like your partial desaturation keeping only the anachronistic horsemen in color!
Good use of the vertical framing too. Sharp details as well.
Good idea

Hi Cessy.
I love the desaturation and also I think the composition is good the subject too.
This is a funny contrast with the colour and the whole scene.
Well done.

Hi Cessy,
I like the combination of colour and black and white here very much. To my mind there is a funny contrast for I should have expected that the soldiers from dark ages long time ago should be black & white in a colourful modern environment.
