Photographer’s Note
As I was working on this file I saw that the trunk and roots of this beautiful ancient Beech looked just like and foot, complete with ankle bone and toes.
The Beech stands in the St Gwynno Forest just a mile or so from my home. As a child we would play amongst these trees set on the lower slopes of the valley. It was safer to play there as the valley floor was covered in coal mining activity but this woodland was never touched by the ravages of the industry. It remains the only place that I have ever seen a badger in the wild, sadly they have now been almost exterminated by idiots who just kill for pleasure although it is against the law to harm these animals in the United Kingdom.

Hi Gerwyn,
Wow, a very animated shot. It fits in quite well with the surroundings. Beautiful fall colors and the details on the wood "foot" are well rendered.

très original ce tronc et les racines de cet arbre, avec de l'imagination on pourrait penser à une pieuvre
bien capturé avec ce tapis de feuilles mortes
