Photographer’s Note

This is central Gothenburg and the photo is taken from Fontänbron (Fountain Bridge) at Brunnsparken (Well Park).

The boat is called Paddan (The Toad) and is a very popular tourist attraction, carrying tourists on the canals around the old part of Gothenburg. It also takes a trip around the harbour. Here it is going along Stora Hamnkanalen (Big Harbour Canal).

The first building to the right is City Hall, then you see the German Church (also called Christine Church). Behind the church is the private house of Niclas Sahlgren who donated money to build a hospital. Then you can see the Museum of Gothenburg, formerly the building for the Swedish East Indian Company, where Sahlgren made all his money.

The bridge, that the boat is heading to, is a pedestrian bridge. It is called Tyska Bron (German Bridge), a continuation of Korsgatan (Cross Street).

In the building to the left, with the little tower, lies one of the best fish restaurants in Europe, Fiskekrogen.

God morgon Gunnar,
Remarkably fine weather when this photo was taken. The waves create a fine pattern and the boat's diagonal movement into the picture is well planned by you.

Hello Gunnar,

This is a really good composition, you have put the spire exactly on the "third".

The moving boat and its occupants - especially those splashes of red colour - give a sense of dynamism to the image.

How very much clearer and cooler your Scandinavian light is - I can see a marked difference compared to our English skies.

The buildings all are perfectly vertical with no perspective distortion - did you have to do any correction here?

A very nice capture of this lovely architecture. The light was kind and has helped bring out the detail beautifully; the lovely blue sky also helps. Very good colours and sharpness.

the beautiful reflections on the water, are the most fascinating eye catcher here. This picture is very nice. The colours are bright, sharpness allows for details and the point of view is very good.
