Photographer’s Note
This is my second post from the beautiful canyon called "Panta Vrehei" (in greek it means "it's always raining"). I know that the sky is way too overexposed, but believe me with these huge contrasts there, this "washed out" sky is inevitable. I tried everything but it wasn't posible to avoid it without losing important details in the shadowed part. I even tried sort of HDR or DRI method there, but the result was too "fake", so I decide to leave it as it is, in some way I think that this bright part could also help to the magic feeling of this place. The two basic reasons why I didn't throw it into the Recycle Bin: first of all, I still like this picture and second, I think it's quite representative of this place.

Hola Hercules.

This looks like a truly spectacular place Hercules, and one that is very difficult to photograph with that extreme contrast between light and shade. It's a shame about the massive area of burn-out, and hard to see how you could have avoided it except by going for a tighter framing on a smaller section of the waterfall and excluding the bright sky entirely.
Careful positioning of a strong ND grad might also have helped you out. You'd have needed to position it diagonally to cover the brightest area of sky while trying not to darken the canyon walls - tricky.
I'm glad you posted this - it's an interesting shot, both for it's content and for the difficulties you faced in taking it.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello Hercules,
Having done a lot of photography in canyons, I can tell you that in this kind of a place, you need to have overcast weather to have manageable dynamic range. If the weather does not cooperate as in this case, then you should go for really tight compositions, like your previous upload. Trying to have all in one frame calls for trouble. Here, I would concentrate on just the lower left part of the image with proper exposure (spotmeter on the bright area), or the lower right. I think the lens has demonstrated its two weaknesses as well here: flare and chromatic aberrations. I would also refrain from a using anything wider than 20 mm on APS-C sensors in canyons; remember less is more sometimes. Sorry, it's not a positive one this time, but this place has a lot of potential and it's definitely worth a revisit. Best,
Hakan
PS: This is still salvageable by cropping generously the two sides of the falls.

Hello Hercules! Great place and composition. But photo quality is too bad. The sky is burned and the colors is very saturated.

Hi Hercules
This looks a fabulous place, and well done for posting the 'real' image. I know HDR can look amazing, but most often to me looks unreal, or fake as you say. Despite the washed out sky this is a beautiful scene, the light playing on the water is wonderful.

Hola Hercules,
Josep

Hello Hercules,
I find this picture most beautiful and better than your previous, the colours are very nice, certainly the waterfall gives a nice composition.
Very well done. Thanks for sharing.
Best regards,

Hi Hercules,
A nice perspective here giving us a sense of the height of the waterfall. I love teh light shining through and once again the blurred movement of the water. It does indeed have a magical feeling.

Hola Hercules.
Abrazos.

Hi Hercules,
Difficult one, difficult conditions..I see that instantly. A lot of contrast and not enough dynamic range to cover it, I think you don't encounter that to often with a 30D, but here it is visible. In main lines I really agree with Ben4321 and delic. YOu've noticed yourself the burned out area's are far from nice, and like delic says, the lens seem to demonstrate one of its weakness (I guess there are only very few though..), the CA and, if you ask me, in minor degree, the amount of flare. But the CA is really naughty. For the best demonstration of this scene, which looks fantastic nevertheless, with the falls and nice colours there! I would crop heavily from the left side of the photo, and maybe a bit from the right. Yes...the result will be a tall and tight photo, it would really be an experiment.
I like the warm colours, yellow, orange and red here..but also the greens of the vegetation. Blue is somewhat too present here and there, where it shouldn't belong.
Wandering around for another POV and view angle, *might* have led to a better place to capture this photo from.
Nevertheless I have to give congratulations for the achievement on this photo concerning the conditions.
It surely doesn't belong in the recycle bin, thanks for sharing it!
Regards!
