Photographer’s Note
This guy has been fishing in front of my house all summer. Some days he just sits there on the rocks all day. I hope maybe I can get down on shore and get a better shot of him upclose...either that or I've got to ask Santa for a longer lens...:o)

Bonjour Donna,
les hérons sont des oiseaux qui peu à peu envahissent nos pays, on en voit de plus en plus en Belgique. Si il est magnifique, il est aussi craint par tous ceux qui élèvent des poissons en extérieur.
Une compo toute simple mais très naturel.
Amicalement.
Daniel.

A very nice view Donna.
As Danyy is saying, we have a smaller version (yours too, here) in this area that is driving a few of my neigbours crazy. That smaller heron has been stealing fish from fishponds around here. Nice to look at but costing a fortune in fish... LOL

Hello Donna,
This is a pleasant visitor to the neighbourhood!
Looks like he has turned his back to the lake and is looking at the photographer; maybe you lens will do the the job if you bring fish? Maybe herring, I don't know his favourite...

I did not know that herons could be a real problem for fisheries. Like your simple composition with nice colours and good POV. I am not so sure about the framing but I guess it is more a personal taste. Well done.

Hi Donna,
Striking capture of this noble bird that sits so tall but weighs so little. Very nice colors with excellent details and sharpness. Happy Thanksgiving day.

Hi Donna,
That's a lovely Heron you've captured. I like how he's standing between the greens and the beautiful blue water is a nice background. Good shot! Thanks for sharing and good luck with asking Santa for a longer lens, I hope you get one :_)

Hi Donna,
Your heron is nicely framed by the foliage. The blues and greens harmonize to create a real sense of peace. The heron and the foliage surrounding him is amazingly sharp. I think I might have gone for a pano crop because I'm not sure the bottom inch of FG adds to ther picture.
We took pictures of a heron in front of our house a couple of days ago also. Sadly neither of us got nearly the results that you did. Our autumn colors don't harmonize nearly as well with the heron and the sharpness didn't come close to yours.

Hi Donna,
Well composed with a minimalist approach that works well. The opening in the foliage nicely showcases the fellow, and I like your framing work very much. The clarity of detail is also impressive. Cheers...later.

Hello Donna! The great shape of the heron is well seen and is framed nicely by the green vegetation. The textured water makes a nice canvas to display him against. My only knitpick is I feel the heron is a little too centered, but that could be easily addressed with a modified crop.
Well done!

This time centering the guy was a good idea. I really like the framing of the bird in the greenery. How lucky you are to live in such a place.
