Photographer’s Note

Built in 1919, the Frigo Building, initially a refridgerated warehouse, was occupied some twenty years ago by a population of artists, craftsmen and creators who transformed it into a hundred of workshops, theaters, music and photography studios, giving a new birth to this spot that history had doomed to coldness and boredom...

Today a property of the Paris city Coucil, in the heart of the Paris left bank project, the Frigos remain, as a vestige of a long gone freedom. Surrounded by a huge movie theater complex (MK2 cinemas), the French National Library (Très Grande Bibliothèque), the Batofar (a boat housing a restaurant and a dance floor), it is no longer the only place in this area abandonned for a long time to take up the cultural challenge.

The place is covered with beautiful and very graphical grafittis. Look at this poor artist just about to be devoured by this grafitti...;-)
