Photographer’s Note
The Deccan Queen pulls into Pune station just before 7 o'clock in the morning. It carries around 1000 passengers everyday across the Western Ghats (hill range) down to Mumbai, a distance of almost 200 km., in just over 3 hours.
It is among the few trains on the Indian Railway that manage to keep a strict schedule on this extremely overburdened network. Although initially catering to a more elite crowd, its passengers now range from the regular Mumbai-Pune commuters to local celebrities. Started in 1930, the Deccan Queen is a favorite among passengers making the Mumbai-Pune journey.

Nice shot Kaustubh, really gives a feeling for the train, compacted and working. The haze also adds to the mystique of the shot, very well seen.

Hi Kaustubh,
Nice shot of the train pulling into the station. We get a good feeling of the time of day with the haze and sombre colours. Chris
