Photographer’s Note

We had some friends staying over the weekend with us at Lake Ohau. After a hard day skiing, we had some BBQ and beer ... we were lucky to be treated with this spectacular sunset scene. Nothing beats having a beer while watching the beauty of nature unfolds. You might say that this is quite similar to my sunrise photo posted earlier ... but the sunrise/sunset skies in this place are sometimes hard to distinguish. Mountain range in the photo is the Barrier Range. Only post processing done here was slight adjustment to contrast and unsharp at 30%. This was made up of two photos stiched together. Hope you like it.

Wow... what a very dramatic sky captured, i like it alot, Renier. I thought the colours are amazing, with the black purple on the FG against the enthusiastic sky. Well done and thanks for share this beautiful picture.

Hello Renier,

I am actually very fond of skies, the colours of clouds and mountains..this one is an amazing shot with all the aspects in a single shot..!!The golden colour is just out of the world..I find the image a bit soft specially the sky but then it does not effect the beauty of the shot..this one immediately led my eyes thru the shot and I cud visualize the actual extravaganza which u saw thru naked eye..!!

like the previous shot thus and this is a first rate panoramic capture of this spectacular sunset scene. Indeed, it is so much better to provide the expansive horizontal view here. The subdued light, with the sun still painting pastoral colors in the clouds makes this a memorable shot,with combination with the snowy Mts.Well done.

Hello Renier,

This one is pretty darn good. I like the low profile of the peaks in this photo allowing for the sky to feature strongly. I like the reflective hue on the snow caps. The dark mountain base contrasts very well with the lighter sections of the image. Very clear and with good depth. A beautiful part of the world, I hope to visit there again soon. I have flown over this lake, between Christchurch and Queenstown. Stunning.

There is a wonderful range of colours in the sky, from purple to yellow. The border of snow capped mountains at the bottom of the image is a different from many sunsets we see. Yes! I like it.

Exceptional sunset against these dramatic snow capped beauties. The colors are dreamy and the soft low light details to the amazingly even peaks is wonderful. There is a U.S. beer that in its commercials shows friends enjoying one of their brews against a stunning landscape like yours with the parting words "It Dosen't Get Any Better Than This."

Olá Renier, either sunset or sunrise they are both spectacular photos. The day you describe here seems perfect for me and much better than a day spent in a paradisiac beach, which is also very good. The rhythm of dark triangles on the bottom of this image, makes an incredible foreground for the show of colors on the sky. Splendid image.

Hi Renier. The clouds could be a bit sharper perhaps. Aside from that this is an awesome sight. The colours of the sunset are vivid. The mountain range look impressive under such array of colours. I don't see any flaws in the stitching process either. Good work.

Hi, Renier. The colours in the sky are really great and the contrast with the snow capped mountains is very good, just as the contrast between the snow and the darker parts of the mountains. I also like how the ridges divide the picture into different parts.
