Photographer’s Note

tuesday fun...
(can't wait friday, need to find a good reason not to desperate looking at yet another november day in august :-( )

It seems to be a growing trend to post photos showing our friend Vincent's environment, so after his lookout and his vineyards, here's a small photo of his home, where he also incidentally produces and stocks his excellent Monbazillac sweet white wine.
As you can see, despite looking a bit rustical it remains fairly modest in size and for those who can't stand yet another glass of wine, there's even a well to get some water (or is it meant to throw water integrists inside ?). The dull weather was ordered to give us yet another good reason to stay indoors and taste some more wine.

Any ressemblance to existing famous TE members would be more than just a pure coincidence ;-)

Hi Jean Yves, the first thing that struck me about this photo is that you've captured the clouds very well to impart atmosphere to the image. The sepia treatment is also very fitting and highlights the texture of the brick and stone walls and the well. An excellent composition, well done!

Bonne utilisation de ce très bon 10-22. Par contre, tu aurais peut-être pu essayer un petit coup de PTLens ou autre pour redesser un peu les perspectives.
Le ciel est magnifique et j'aime bien ce traitement sépia.

L'effet est excellent ! L'ambiance de cette photographie est parfaite ! Rien ne vient troubler l'aspect presque médieval de ce décor ! Je trouve que tu as bien fait de ne pas redresser la distortion due à l'objectif, cela donne une allure très particulière et très attirante à cette cour de chateau !
La couleur du PP est très bien choisie !

ben, moi, je préfère un noir et blanc, mais c'est chacun son truc ;o)
les contrastes sont pas mal; le grand angulaire fait son effet!

Your heavy sepia brings us to 1800s, I wonder if there were such wide angle lenses those days.
Beautiful place, romantic atmosphere. The well is well placed, distortion is strongish on it though.

Hello Mr. JYR,
Wide angle and sephia conversion adds an eerie atmosphere to this quite gothic place. I guess a close up to the house at the BG with the tree and figures underneath would also resul in qiute a nice photo. Now the well in the front has the leading role, but it does not act so well imho...

très belle image de ce château de Monbazillac. Tu as réussi à faire ressortir une ambiance du tonnerre... L'effet du grand angle est vraiment superbe... Bon, pour ma part j'ai du mal avec l'eau de la Dordogne... trop froide ; je préfère ouvrir une bouteille ;o)

MDR!!!!!!!la legende du puit meurtrier pour les buveurs d'eau :-)...je comprend que la meteo te mine le moral mais tu devrais pas picoler autant dés le matin :-o

Inutile de preciser que j'adore ton image le cadrage est top et le sepia est genial,sa colle bien au sujet et en plus je suis sur que la version couleur cassait pas grand chose vu la lumiere pourrie qu'on avait...
J'y pense là,j'ai une photo des vrais proprio du chateau sur laquelle le richissime chatelin photographie sa dame devant leur modeste demeure ;-)je sais pas si je vais pas la joindre en WS...

You play very well with sepia as well along wit te spalshes you create with the colorus normally. i like the etxtures whih seem to come alive and the tones. the archietcture is ebautifully captured. nice compositon indeed with an intersting pov

Good afternoon Jean-Yves!

Pauvre Vincent... Vivre ainsi dans l’indigence me brise le coeur...

Dis-donc, c’est plutôt réussi ce duotone sépia!... Y’a plein de textures qui surgissent de partout pour venir enrichir cette très belle scène. Le puit au premier plan, c’est vraiment bien, surtout que tu sembles avoir prêté une attention particulière aux tiges qui le coiffent, en évitant de cacher les fenêtres en arrière plan. Composition soignée.

En regardant l’arbre adjacent à la maisonnette de Vincent, j’ai l’impression qu’il s’agit de photo infrarouge.

Having discovered and enjoyed a delicious new wine on my recent travels, it's nice to see the place where it comes from!! This is quite a dramatic shot thanks to the strong sense of depth and the sepia treatment. Nice to see the two people in the distance under the tree too. This could easily have been taken in the last century and works very successfully. Plus I'm getting thirsty now...

délicieuse note!:D Elle m'a bien fait rire!
Ce n'est pas le genre de photo, ni le genre de traitement auquel je suis habitué de voir dans ta gallerie, mais j'aime bien le résultat final. Les nuages et le puit font tout un boulot pour rendre l'ambiance générale plutôt dramatique.

Great job of processing here, with the texture of those stones being a very big feature here. The sky has a lot of details visible too, with a very dramatic look. I also like those two people visible under the tree in the distance, giving this a little touch of life. Nice work!

Hey JY. You know there's something about your sky that has it looking so dynamic and alive. The strong sharpness in your textures is really on display with your sepia. Dang those people look like ants next to the castle! Nice work Jean-Yves.

Jolie carte postale du siècle passé, avec un excellent boulot de conversion et de contrastes. Je comprends mieux maintenant pourquoi notre ami Vincent préfère rester chez lui plutôt que de se joindre à nous dans le Valais, mais à voir la taille de sa propriété j'ai déjà ma petite idée pour l'organisation du BibiDay 2008! ;o)))

Sacré Jean-Yves! Je suppose que demain tu nous proposeras une photo de l'épouse de Vincent. Tu ne t'es pas mis au N&B, mais c'est quand même du sépia. Je dois dire que cela convient très bien à cette modeste demeure. Tout comme le cadrage qui la coince entre un arbre et un puits pour mieux la mettre en évidence. Mais ces pauvres gens doivent diantrement être à l'étroit là-dedans!

Quel beau château! Choix séphia osé mais bien réussi. J'aime bien la composition avec la fontaine, le château, l'étable et l'arbre.

If I'm not wrong I have to believe that this is yours second B&W here at TE, JY. Really not bad and the postcard approach in vintage mood conferes a lot to the success of the image. the composition is perfect with perfect placement of the well off center in the foreground. I see some lens distortion but nothing compromising.
The castle reminds me a little bit of the castles that the new wine barons at Napa and Sonoma Valley are reproducing to have some splendor of the "Old World" here in the "Wild West".

L'effet du grand-angle est surprenant et très beau, les nuages en eventail accompagnant le "mouvement" des bâtiments, la circularité de l'objectif fonctionne très bien ici! En plus, le sepia tone est très joli, un bon effet de couleur, qui fait la photo plus ancienne! Très belle! Merci.

Bien vu ce rendu qui convient parfaitement à ce type de photo et puis comme ça on ne voit pas que le ciel était un peu trop couvert ... composition impeccable avec ce premier plan. C'est très réussie, prise et pp.

Bonjour Jean Yves.

Le grand angle donnes ici sa pleine puissance et permet de donner une vue globale aérée de ce magnifique batiment.
D'habitude je n'aimes pas trop le sépia mais là cela donnes un coté nostalgique à souhait.
PS: Je trouves la légende un peu trop visible.
