Photographer’s Note
Abyaneh is a famous historic Iranian village near the city of Kashan in Isfahan Province.
Set on the slope of the mountain of Karkas, this village has a cold climate and enjoys numerous springs creating a favorite condition for agriculture. It dates back to antiquity, but its golden age was during the Safavid period. The word Abyaneh has been derived from the word "viona" meaning willow grove. (In the local dialect "vey" means willow.)
With a unique reddish hue, the village is one of the oldest in Iran, attracting numerous native and foreign tourists year-round, especially during traditional feasts and ceremonies. The materials use for building the roofs are timbers, straw and clay. The walls, built by red mud bricks are impressive. The mud bricks are of quality that become harder when they are exposed to the rain. To use the sun as much as possible, the houses face the east.
On top of the village sits the ruins of a Sassanid era fort.
Abyaneh has been called an entrance to Iranian history. The local clothing, for example, is in a style of great antiquity.

hi Atousa,
The color is wonderful .. but the thing I feel the most from this is the enclosed feeling of the veiled woman walking through the narrow walls and high cascading layers of buildings topped off with the mountain. Thoughtful image.
take care,
John

Salam Atousa,
I like this one a lot! A fine POV in the street with the woman adding life and dynamism, the great ocher colors of the houses and fine architecture... maybe a bit too sharpened but i like the effect too!

Hallo Atouse. Ein eigenartig faszinierendes Photo. Auf dem Weg geht eine Frau. Trotzdem sieht das Dorf verlassen aus. Die Farben des Photos wirken fast monochrom. Das Photo gefällt mir sehr gut. Viele Grüße, Wolfgang. .

I don't remember Abyaneh that way, but rediscovering it through your eyes is a pleasure, the colours are great and I find the way of dressing of the woman rather interesting...

This is a really great shot. Nice calming colours. the only thing I would have done is crop the top to get rid of most of the white cloud, or remove it completely. I think it takes away from the picture.

The patterns of the scarf are sure pretty, the artifacts and oversharpening of the sky are not, maybe this one suffered from resizing, still a good one.

Hello Atousa
A really good composition with the variety of red and orange buildings and the hill beyond. The woman in traditional clothing adds human interest as she walks between the walls. TFS, Marlene

Salam Atousa
An older post of yours which attracted me from the thumbnail. The mud brick houses are certainly impressive & well preserved. How old are they? The lady is the most important part of the compo. I also like the contrast with the blue sky! Well done!
Best Regards
